Hello everyone.
Our 'good' laptop decided to suddenly die on us the other day. Something seems to have gone wrong with an update. What is most upsetting, is that I don't appear to have a recent backup, so have lost my financial spreadsheets, lots of paperwork, photos and the spreadsheet detailing all the sales from the house stuff - I need this to divvy up the money between DH and his brother 😭😭😭. I'm usually really good at this stuff, but I can't find anything later than 2017. Please check your backups!!
I spent a day following instructions on Dr Google to try and resurrect it, but to no avail. None of the local repair companies seem to be operating at the moment either due to Covid. We were using the old laptop, but it was playing up before, and we need one with all the ebay stuff. So we've splashed out on a new one. £300, but I had £60 of nectar points which I could put towards it so £240. The only silver lining is that I had the cash available 2 days before payday!
New laptop is here and set up. It's so much quicker than the old one. I'm doing some listing for DH and the uploading of photos is so much quicker. Needless to say I have set up backups in several different places to reduce the risk of this happening again. It has also convinced me to get on with sorting and organising the photos so that everything is filed accordingly and put onto various storage devices.
We are going to try and get it repaired when they reopen again, hopefully in a couple of weeks. If the worst comes to the worst, I'll be able to rebuild the spreadsheets but it will take me absolutely forever, so I'm really hoping something can be done.
I'm absolutely gutted"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3 -
Aside of laptop disasters, I have been sorting out and got rid of some more stuff. I've pulled down all the printed photos and will work my way through them. I want to make some scrapbooks or something with my holiday photos, postcards, and leaflets etc. I don't have a crafty bone in my body so I'll have to have a look for some inspiration. If anyone has any suggestions, please share!
Payday came and went and I've made my payments, but obviously can't update my spreadsheet. I should be able to do my end of month totals though just from last month. I can't monitor how my spending has compared either.
We've had a relaxing week off, we didn't go anywhere. We have made progress at home though, and the kids have loved their new paddling pool. Back to it tomorrow.
Hope everyone is well"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee6 -

Happy weekend!
It's been crazy busy at work. I have been sent over to help out with customer services again and trying to keep up with emails is a nightmare when there are hundreds coming in a day. I love working from home now, but it's definitely easier to think 'just a little more' and then another hour has gone by.
We found someone to repair the old laptop. So we now have our files and photos back thankfully! I have immediately backed them up to various places. That's another £120 gone though, eek!
Hoping for a quiet weekend again this weekend. I have lots more listing to catch up with!

I just went into my RM account to cash in what I thought was due to be £5 of rewards, only to find out there is £10 in there. I've cashed that out for amazon but it's not included in the totals above as I haven't received it yet.
I'm currently trying to catch up on admin stuff. I've got loads of listings to do for DH so will try and get some on this weekend.
