Hope everyone is well
I broke my 'no online shopping' rule the other day to order the new Stephen King book. I chose the 'no rush' delivery on Amazon to get the £1 discount, and although it was originally meant to arrive next Thursday, it arrived today, only one day past the prime date. Very happy with that!
Little miss is struggling a bit with lockdown, she is probably the most sociable one out of us. We went out to clap last night and she could see all the people out in the road and she wanted to go down the road and see them allShe keeps sitting on the end of our drive (when we are out in the garden) so that she can see people going past. Every time we go to the shop she asks if she can come 'just to sit in the car' (we don't let her). It's hard for them.

Fab to have that saving. It's hard for kids. My DS struggles with lockdown - my DD is unwilling to leave the house at all - I think that could end up being a bigger problem long termAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I've never had this money available, even pre-kids! It's a complete novelty.

It is hard for them. I'm in my element as I'm antisocial anyway, I think little jwil has those tendencies too, though he misses his friends at school. I do think there are going to be all sorts of issues long-term and a massive increase in people too anxious to go out

Happy weekend everyone!
DH has taken the kids out for their exercise and I've asked him to stay out a bit longer. Firstly because they didn't sleep well last night so I think they could do with a bit more, and secondly to give me time to whizz around and clean the house before they all start tipping stuff out everywhere!
Todays plans are to clean - do some cooking, I've got eggs boiling to make scotch eggs with some reduced mince I got this week. Sort out the fridge and divvy up and freeze some of the stuff we bought so that we don't waste anything. I want to read my new book, and I also must start taking the time to work on my mental health as it's not great.
I saw on FB yesterday some colouring sheets of Orkney, so I've downloaded 4 copies. I thought it was something we could all do as a little challenge.
I've just renewed my BT package. It's the same as we've got currently. I should shop around really, but it's been so reliable, I worry that switching would mean worse service. I might use some of my additional cash to pre-pay the line rental once the new contract starts to save a little bit. I do really want to have the house fund available though, it's a constant worry that something will break and we'll need to spend a fortune to get it sorted, so I really need that money there for now. Because very little has been touched since the 60s jobs are likely to be full replacements rather than repairs.
It was dull and cloudy this morning, but seems to be brightening up now.
Have a good day everyone

Morning Jwil, I don't know about you but i'm finding it a nightmare to keep the house tidy at the minute no sooner have I cleaned a room it seems to be a mess again.
I'm the same with BT, we have been with them for years and I've heard so many horror stories where people have tried to switch and had no broadband for weeks, I would rather pay the extra and not take the risk especially as we are rural and some companies won't supply us.
Enjoy the sunshine and have a nice weekend xx

We switched 'to' BT a few years ago, and the difference in speed and reliability was really noticeable. I think I'd rather pay for something I know will work, particularly as the kids get older and there are often all of us online at the same time!
You have a lovely weekend too"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee4 -
I think there'll be a lot of mental health problems when all of this is over and some people may feel anxious about going out after being in for so long. It looks as though the lockdown will be phased out gradually though so that may give people time to adapt.
I'm glad you managed to stock up the food cupboards, I can never work out what the best time to go to the supermarket is but I think it's early in the morning.
It's great news that you're saving so much money on the nursery fees. What are you doing with the extra money?
