Hope everyone is well
I don't really celebrate Mother's day etc, but got some nice cards, flowers and a book, which was a nice surprise
We took the kids to the park this morning and had a nice roast for lunch, beef and yorkshire pudding.
I'm disappointed that the card and flowers I ordered my Mum have not arrived. I posted the card first class at the start of the week, and ordered the flowers last weekend to arrive yesterday. Because of where they are, things usually take an extra day to arrive, but I always account for that when posting. We did have a nice phone chat though.
10 parcels have been posted and I've done another 5 listings. I haven't achieved as much as I'd hoped this weekend, but did read the whole Stephen King book yesterdayI did finally make a start tackling my physical photos today. It's going to be a huge job, but I'll have to try and do a little at a time to get it done. Some nice memories doing that. First I'm sorting them into holiday/occasion, then I will choose my favourites and for general photos, put them into albums, labelled and organised. For the holiday ones, I'll do the same, but am going to put them into scrapbooks with any postcards/leaflets or other souvenirs.

Bad form for both the card & the present to be late.

I've had a fairly productive day today. I've cleared some stuff at work. Also, whenever I stopped for a loo break, I decided to spend 5 minutes tidying something before I went back to the laptop. That's achieved two things - it's made some improvement to the state of the house, and also it's got me off my rear! I do have a habit of sitting there all day. I don't feel so drained this evening, so it's probably done my eyes good as much as anything else! It's amazing how much can be achieved in 5 minutes if I set my mind to it.
DH has been called back to work next week. It's excellent news, but it also means the progress at home will slow down hugely which is a shame. His car's in for the expensive fix next week so it means he'll take mine and I'll have no excuse but to walk on the school run! Doing that twice will give me 10k steps so that will be a shock to the system"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". I haven't been as productive today as yesterday, but have managed to tick a few things off at work so feel like I've achieved something.
I'm starting an online course about the circular economy tomorrow so that should be interesting.
DH took the cat and the dog this morning for their annual check up and jabs. The dog got a clean bill of health but the cat needs to go in for a dental and blood tests to check for thyroid issues. So on top of the £60 today, I've got a bill of up to £450 coming next week 😱 So much for having an emergency fund, though it is such a huge relief that I've got it and I know the cash is there ready and waiting. My cat is nearly 15 so she's doing well and hasn't cost much over the years other than a couple of dentals. I don't think she'll have many if any teeth left now though!
I will miss having DH around to help with the logistics of things that's for sure. He works fixed hours whereas mine are flexible, so generally it's me running around trying to sort everything out. It will be back to that next week.
It's certainly going to be an expensive week next week with DH's huge car bill and my big vet bill!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee6 -
Ouch to bills. Glad you have EF though. It will take a while for things to settle down - but still great news about DH.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
