F0xholes is it sad that my first trip to the dentist in 18 months for a many times rescheduled check up has been the highlight of my week and I get to go again next month for a filling!
CCL if it's rock you are after the Planet Rock radio is my comfort place especially late morning on Sundays which is presented by the lead singer from Thunder. He has kept me sane-ish through out this latest lockdown and our months in Tier 3 before that while I do some crafting at the same time. And if I close the door to avoid frightening the neighbours i can sing along to my hearts content. It really does cheer you up11 -
I must say I am a fan of Kerrang! radio as well - even if it does come through the tv.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Eeeps! I just cannot get my head around this working from home business at all. I am so busy and struggling quite a bit in terms of striking a work/life balance. Last week was utterly manic and I found myself working 12 hour days and all weekend. It's really tough juggling two full time jobs with two full time kids, running a house and general low mood all round.
Anyway, I finally see a little light at the end of the dark tunnel of work so thought I had better come on here and update, say hello and catch up with my online buddies who are not in the least bit surprised at how flaky I've become in recent months.
Financial update. Got a workable budget sorted, then discovered I have been estimated by the tax office to be earning a lot more this tax year than I actually am - they've put me on some tax code which is currently deducting and extra £260 a month from my wages in tax that they think I'm going to owe. It's a bit annoying but I assume once April passes and they see that this is not the case then I'll get the overpaid tax refunded back to me. It is starting to stress me out in terms of how I'll manage my budget - which was already incredibly tight. On top of that the cancellation of this year's exams has dealt another blow in terms of my extra income, which will be substantially reduced there for the second year in a row. I know I'm in a very lucky position compared to some but it always feels like one step forward and another two back. The promotion with the exam board means I get work even if there's no marking so that is at least something - just need to find the time to do it all. Not today though. When school is done I'm putting the laptop away and enjoying tv all afternoon and evening with dd. Anyway, the changed tax code gave me the rocket up my backside I needed to claim the tax back on working from home for this tax year. I don't know how much it adds up to but it all helps.
School is still all remote, and working from home is different and quite hard. Although it gets easier every week I do it. I'm not doing much in the way of live lessons but I am recording lots, uploading lots and marking lots. I want schools to open again asap - just safely if that isn't too much to ask.
Trip to the vets with lockdown kitty yesterday costing £75 (insurance excess). He's had a really poorly tummy for a few days and chronic diarrhoea which was making him quite unwell. Vet gave him fluids and probiotics and a few really expensive cans of easy to digest food and he's much more like his old self again today. Still a bit of diarrhoea but he's doing much better than he has been for days. She thinks it's just a tummy bug - my poor lockdown baby.
Both kids were sick last week. DD started complaining of a headache from Sunday, then by Tuesday had a really high temperature which meant a trip to the drive through testing site. Negative thankfully but she was quite poorly all week. Closely followed by her brother who I assumed was making it up because he thought it would get him out of doing his schoolwork. However by Thursday his temperature was also up so back to the test centre, and another negative.
Honestly, I don't know if I've been coming or going the past couple of weeks. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Good to hear from you CCL!
With HMRC & tax never assume anything they will happily hold on to anything they possibly can with their grubby mitts so if you're going to wait and see what the scores on the doors are at the end of the tax year diarise Now! to chase and get it back otherwise they might revise your code for next year for you to not pay as much and 'pay' it back that way but knowing friends who have had previous experiences it never evens out and drags on and on that way. (might be worth checking back the previous tax year or 2 to make sure its all square there)
In fact mulling while writing I'd speak to them now if you can fit it in somewhere and get your code corrected asap so it comes back to you in the couple of pay days that remain before the end of this tax year. They could alternatively ask you to do a self assessment and that would then delay anything until next Jan which you don't want. Get it on the frog list!- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted

Swagbucks, Mingle, GiffGaff, Prolific, Qmee & Quidco; thank you MSE every little bit helps10 -
HMRC should have sent an explanation of your tax code to you. Does it make sense? If you haven't got one then ask for one. I you have an explanation & you don't get it then just ask on cutting tax if you would rather not on here.
