Well, here I am, checking in from work.
My boss has interpreted the announcement last night as it's perfectly fine to go to work regardless of what you do, so because he doesn't legally have to keep us home, he won't. I think there is a real chance here for employers to show they want to do the right thing, not just the bare minimum. I can also confirm once this has all passed I will be looking to leave this job as soon as possible. I will shortly basically be on minimum wage when it rises, my pension is poor, and I am frankly unimpressed with how this is being handled.
On a brighter note, I won't have to pay for the gym whilst it's closed, they have frozen all membership payments until they can re-open.
OH will just be going in today to fully close down the building then they are all being furloughed. I actually had to chase my boss for an update after the announcement as nothing was voluntarily sent out.
I wouldn't mind so much if I had work to be doing, but it was a quiet role anyway and now that contractors that usually come in have closed down, it's going to be next to nothing to do for ten hours a day. Probably sounds nice for some but I think I'm going to go insane. It also feels like an utter waste of fuel driving backwards and forwards to sit and do nothing. Hopefully there will be some clearer guidance on who is considered essential to be going to work, and things may change, but I'm not holding my breath.2 -
Hi SSDD23 - glad your DH's work are being considerate. Sorry to hear your company is not. Mine is sending people home in waves - continually redefining who is critical to be in the office. I'm glad OH is still getting paid that's a weight off of our shoulders, I was just a teeny bit resentful this morning that he got to stay in bed (Doesn't need to go overly early to close down) and I imagine that will be the case every morning he doesn't have to get up and I do2 -

Hey,
Its crap to read your work are not being considerate to the situation, mine is pretty much the same. They have their reasons and i would have no issue with going in if they were to make reasonable adjustments. On nights its easier there is only one person and a security staff member, however on days there are 3 ppl sat within touching distance of each other (plus two security who are classed as high risk) bearing in mind we have already got 3 people off with symptoms so i don't know. I understand they have a service to delivery but i am now starting to see why i don't like being there, the total lack of awareness around this is awful from them. I will certainly be looking elsewhere once this blows over
In more positive news well done on the continued weight loss girl! You certainly do have a drive when you put your mind to itx

I think the lockdown will get tighter and that will help. At the same time I'm grateful for the delivery people bringing me stuff...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Feeling super paranoid about every little symptom at the moment, my chest still feels a bit tight, full of gunk in my throat and mouth and now my back feels tight along side my chest, will monitor it and try not to get too stressed over every ailment2 -
Morning all
Chest and back feel a little better today but felt worse last night, so will keep an eye on it.
My boss as I said is fully aware that I don't have anything to do so has basically said keep yourself busy how you can, so today I have brought my book and my iPadthough there is some SE work I can catch up on, so will do some of that as well.
Taking my car to the garage to get the wheels balanced whilst they are still all healthy and working, the cancellation of the sports channels on my sky bill was backdated for this month so the bill due out tomorrow is cheaper, which covers the cost of the wheel balancing without needing to touch any savings or anything. Hopefully on my journey home I will notice the difference. I got home quite quickly last night, but this morning I was more aware of stories of people being stopped or just the fact the police are monitoring people, so took it easier on the motorway just in case.
It really is a mix of sad and heart-warming to see the acts of kindness but also the acts of stupidity and selfishness that this has pandemic has brought out. Communities coming together balanced out by vandalism and theft, people sharing their supplies vs people hoarding supplies. A weird world we are in at the moment.

Mixed feelings about the visit to the garage, thankfully they were quiet so I was in and out relatively quickly but they have said I need a new rear wheel (actual wheel, not tyre) and that normally the best place to get one would be a dealership but they are all closed down now as non-essential, so my best bet is to look on eBay and find one. I'm watching a few for now as I don't get paid until Tuesday, and would rather take it out of my wages then rather than my VSP/EF.
They did say they would fit the wheel if I could get one, though, so that's goodI was worried about paying main dealer prices for a wheel AND labour, so this will be more cost-effective
I am a bit annoyed that there have been quite a few things to fix after opting for a newer car, but that's the luck of the draw I guess with pre-owned cars, could be worse things to be having to fix
(No, engine, that is not a hint for you to start giving me problems.)
Hope everyone is keeping safe, I am looking forward to getting home and relaxing tonight, shredding has been put on hold until my chest feels 100% but I am going for our daily permitted walk with OH in the evenings

Frustrating about the wheel. Hope you manage to find one."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney1
