  • Thanks everyone  had a sneaky look at the inches yesterday and have lost some more there slightly.

OH is still working for now until they enforce mandatory closures of all leisure establishments, all of his colleagues think it's absurd that they are still opening but I don't doubt the enforcement will come into play soon. Not too sure about my job, they are introducing measures from tomorrow that should minimise my contact with anyone, but also I get the feeling they are testing the waters for whether or not I could stay home until this all passes. I don't think we are far away from proper isolation and I'm not a key worker, so I think that is being thought about. I would still do my SE work so we would manage (just about)

The school closure announcement did not surprise me, the "until further notice" did, but not the actual closure. The roads are going to be empty next week! I will be watching the latest this afternoon at work - I don't exactly think anyone is going to moan that I want to keep up to date with things as they happen, rather than hear second hand information or hear it much later than everyone else.

    Hope everyone stays safe x

I am going to chair yoga today for what I expect will be the last time for a while today. Like you I am slightly surprised that they are still open.
    Take care 😊

Hope you enjoy your class! Will you have videos etc so you can still do it from home when they close?
  • I most definitely have my motivational mojo going at the moment!

i have been in from work for one hour and I have so far:
    • done my shred
    • Hoovered downstairs
    • Put washing machine cleaner in and run the washing machine
    • Done the washing up from this morning
    • Speed mopped the kitchen
    • Brought the recycling bin back in
Normally I’m still trying to talk myself into getting back up off of the sofa :jo:joy:

All I really want to do now housework-wise is empty the bins and then make some lunch for tomorrow, other than that I just plan to chill in front of the TV, do a face mask and perhaps some more SE work.

Hope everyone is doing okay. X

  • Morning all!

I just lazed around after doing my last few jobs last night, it was lovely! Today I managed to pause my Sky Sports part of the package - I was happy to wait for the option to do so online rather than wait 1-3 hours to get through on the phone. I have also cancelled a click and collect order I made for a store so should get that money back too, at some point.

The competitors in OH's company sector are all closing from this weekend, so he is expecting to hear similar today. This does not mean he will be home all the time, but it does mean he won't do as many hours. They will probably have staff in here and there to do maintenance, cleaning, etc.

I have a blood donation booked for tomorrow which will go ahead unless I have any cold or flu symptoms, it will be interesting to see what measures they have in place in their waiting areas as usually you struggle to get a seat let alone be a metre or so apart from someone else.

I am wishing the hours away to the next press conference to see what it has in store for us today...
  • Click and collect order has been cancelled/returned via their online service so will have that back in 3-5 days.

Final day of Level 1 (Take 2) of the shred has been done today, supposed to move up a level tomorrow but that will likely be late evening because of the blood donation in the morning. I will finally be allowed a hot drink and not a cold drink tomorrow :joy: I must remember to go to the toilet before I donate this time, too, as before I had to be escorted to the toilet and monitored :joy:

I really should adjust the monthly groceries amount as £50pw x 52 / 12 instead of just £200 a month as between my two FT paydays there will  have been 5 weekends, so will be short and need to ask OH to cover it next weekend. Think it works out at £217 a month instead.

Our utility switcharound will have to wait until we know where the land lies with everything in the coming weeks, at least at the moment its a stable figure going out every month. I like the look of bulb but they want to take a month's energy usage 5 days after you sign up, which probably wouldn't line up very well at the moment. Better to wait until everything has calmed down, and also when I've done a few weeks of consistent meter reads to estimate our usage over the month.

There is a very ominous looking black cloud approaching my office... hoping for some sunshine tomorrow to finish my garden planters :)

Planted a second lot of "start off in a pot" tomato seeds from Wilko as the last ones sprouted a LOT quicker than I thought they would and were basically dying from lack of sunlight in the airing cupboard and were yellow and stringy. They went in for two days this time and last night I took them out and some were already two inches tall and pressing against the lid, but confident I got to them in time this time, and they are now on the windowsill instead :) I am determined to get some good plants/vegetables this year.  I planted some tulip bulbs last autumn and I can see those growing through in the tiny mud patch we have got

I will have to order some craft stuff if we ever end up being stuck at home, OH has the PlayStation and can sit in front of the TV for hours and hours but I need something to keep my brain ticking over now and then :joy:

Hi SSDD23 - Hope that your OH gets some protection from the latest announcements. Hope you manage to work mostly from home too - sounds the safest place currently. Your planters sound lovely. Are they flowers or veg or both?

Thanks holmes, they are all definitely getting paid to the end of the month, no one really knows what is coming after that. The planters will just be veg and I'm hoping to plant/grow some flowers underneath our kitchen window in the front garden :)

Thank you  good to know about Bulb, there are some negative reviews but I think people tend to only really review when they have an issue, anyway.
  • Morning world!

Work as usual today, though the roads were mostly as I expected on the drive in. I think it would take full lockdown for me not to need to come in to work, though I do think it is imminent with the way people are still having massive disregard for the instruction from the Government so far. OH's work is gearing up for full closure, at the moment they are in and cleaning, organizing, doing some training, etc. They are making decisions day by day so we will see what their long term plan is when they have one.

We managed to get plenty of food for the two of us, some frozen bits were left in Aldi and we got a fair few fresh pieces that could be frozen, though most things were indeed empty. That should also ease off on a full lockdown as it shouldn't then be whole families going out and filling up trollies and baskets between them.

1.5 kilos lost so far, another inch round my waist, one inch from my hip, and an inch from my thighs, as well. Took the weekend easy and I felt quite drained on Saturday after giving blood, so will pick it up again today with level 2. I was impressed with the blood donation, it was all very well planned and strict with keeping people apart. I'm going to book my next appointment once I've finished writing this. They were all in really good spirits which was nice to see.

As I type my nan has just text and asked me to pick up a few bits to drop into her on my way home from work, that's the first time she's decided to stay home so I am grateful for that. Will run to the shop on my lunch break then pop the stuff round this evening. They are in supported housing which I'm grateful for.

Right, time to crack on with earning some extra pennies, it was a bit of a dry weekend!
