  • Hope you manage to get your car resolved. I tried YNAB for a few months but went back to spreadsheets. Glad is is now working for you though.
Thank you  It's definitely going to work more smoothly now, I'm just a little annoyed I had to resort to google for such a (now) obvious solution

I am really suffering with motivation for exercise at the moment, and motivation in general, but I am trying to push myself to get the things done I need to do (e.g. the assessment day next month, letting my boss know, even phoning the milkman). I said to my OH last week I am feeling quite depressed lately, it's hard for him to "get" having never really gone through it, but he does try and talk it through with me. It's a naff cycle because I can sit down and work out the things I need to do to get my life running smoothly, but its almost like I then panic that my life might actually run smoothly?! My reaction always seems to be to panic and self-sabotage e.g. eating junk food, spendy days, putting things off until I've missed out on chances.

One quote that's always sort of resonated with me is:
Image result for fear everything and run or face everything and rise
I went to type all of that out and then remembered we can do photos now

So, I need to break the self-sabotage habits and actually just embrace that life CAN run smoothly and I CAN achieve my goals if I just let myself do it.

I have no idea if that makes any sense to anyone else :joy:

Anyway, to kick-start me back into fitness I'm going to try the 30-Day Shred again, so I can get back into the swing of things in the comfort of my own home, and make gym visits as and when I feel up to it rather than those gym visits being the sole way I do exercise and letting myself down all the time. I bought it on Amazon Video ages ago, so I can do it at work or at home, no excuses :)

    tHey,
Finally caught up with last few bits of your diaries, glad you seem to have gotten over the worst of feeling ill. Oooh congratulations on the assessment that's really positive, also nice the boos wasn't too hard on you about it too.
YNAB is still something I have not fully decided on yet weirdly, and i enjoyed it when i used it but i also get split income so not sure how it would work there. There's a youtuber who is always on about YNAB so his video tutorials are quite useful though.
Sucks with the car I really hope you get that sorted and nothing too serious.

    Hello world!

Car frog was swallowed, its getting dropped in Monday first thing to the guys who balanced the wheels on my old car for a brake check, he seemed fairly confident on the phone what the issue was, hopefully it won't be too costly.

I sat feeling smug last night and this morning that I did the 30 day shred workout and did it to a better standard than I ever remember doing it before, and didn't totally feel like I wanted to die afterwards...

In the past hour or so, however, a sense of dread and pain has crept over me as my muscles have remembered they don't do or like exercise after so long. I suspect I will be crawling into bed this evening!

Given up on thinking of a nice, unique gift for OH. Usually I have no issues but I guess I've run out of cool thing I can buy him, so just doing him a hamper of bits and pieces. I ordered him some slippers as he has misplaced his, will get his favourite flavour of jelly beans, a bottle of his favourite wine, a gift card and maybe a Blu-ray, as well. That should all look quite nice wrapped up in a hamper

Meeting my nan for lunch today, and going to try and quickly sort out a part I got for her back windscreen wiper which is just shooting screenwash horizontally behind her, as it stands. It might be a two-minute job, or it might be a longer job on Saturday depending if the thing I'm putting in for her is missing or broken off inside. Won't know until I look. I've just suddenly got visions of before my nan realised it was broken, and squirting screenwash at any car behind her :joy:

I'm not going to make an overpayment to my car finance until I know how much the repair is going to cost, it may well be that the money all goes towards that instead, but at least I've got the cash!

Well done on doing the shred, it's really hard, so it should make a great difference.

  • Happy to report that today is Day 5 done and dusted  past the phase of wanting to due and muscles being horrifically sore now, although I suspect when I go up to Level 2 that will all change. Have you done it, @jwil ?

It's actually not been too bad of a weekend, yesterday was a bit slow but I went and got some extra food to meal prep for this week's lunches, most chicken and various green veg. Made the overall food shop this week a bit extra, but unfortunately all the snacky bits the kids inhale each week take about the same amount of money that I would like for my healthy bits. They've gone back home usual time this morning, so I had a nice catchup on Skype with my parents, cracked on with the shred, and had a nice relaxing bath.

Currently I'm sat here wondering what other (late) 20-somethings are doing with their Sundays right now, anywhere I think of going will undoubtedly end up costing me money, and with the car going in tomorrow that's something I want to avoid. I tried (and failed) to make an omelette for my lunch, so just had my first PB&J ever, hardly nutritious but it was quick & easy.

Got some ironing to crack on with later, OH did the bulk of the mountain yesterday but I've got the stuff to do that got washed and dried yesterday. Shouldn't take too long, though.

I'll probably attempt a walk this evening if the weather isn't too bad later on, I could drag myself to the gym but one intense workout is enough for one day :joy:

Need to "top up" clean the house, too, got a lot of hoovering and mopping done yesterday despite a full house, but the kitchen and lounge need going over again properly now that the house is basically empty! :joy:

We got a charity back through the door yesterday so planning to go through my stuff and fill it up this evening, there always seems to be more that can go! :hushed:
  • I have the shred dvd somewhere really should get it out as it's a cheap way to do some exercise that's quite intense but only for a short time. Pretty sure I will feel like I have died for the first few attempts but it will be worth it in the end.

  • Definitely, the real test will be getting myself up before work tomorrow to do it, I may well need to go and collect my car on my lunch break and can't see myself doing it whilst OH is home with me in the evening (there's only one room big enough to do it in) so need to get it done first thing.

Chicken kebabs, sweet potato mash & green veg for dinner tonight, and cooked up a load of chicken and portioned it up with the rest of the sweet potato mash and green veg for three days' worth of lunches for the week, so pleased with that. I didn't quite have enough chicken for four lunches, but I can have leftovers of something or another on Friday.

I just need to run the hoover round, do the washing up from dinner, and whizz through the ironing, then that's all of the housework done. I'll fare much better at getting up and working out tomorrow morning if I get the workout clothes ready to go, and I'll get my uniform ready for the morning, to try and make it all as easy as possible :joy:

I may get time to go out for a quick stroll, even if it's only to pick up a little bit more milk before the co-op closes, as we don't get our fresh milk until Tuesday morning, and as we were all home all day yesterday we got through more than I had thought we would. As I type this, I also realise that I probably won't have time to get to Asda before work tomorrow to get my long life milk for the week if I'm dropping my car off, first. So, I'm probably going to head there first before finishing off the housework.

I'm curious to see how long I can maintain these habits for
