  • Just stopping by via mobile to confirm I DID get up and do day 6! The 5:15 alarm was not my friend but it definitely helped I could just grab the clothes I’d got ready and crack on with it! :joy:
  • Whew, good morning!

According to my watch, I've already done 51 minutes of exercise today, made up of the shred and the walk from the garage to work this morning. Taking it in so early gave me some serious anxiety, their online opening hours state 8:30 opening, he said in fact they open their gates at 7:30, so I tried to leave so that I would get there nearly exactly 7:30 to also allow the time to walk to work, I ended up pulling into the road at 7:25 and panicking where I could stop for 5 minutes, but I crept to the entrance and the gates were open, so managed to drop it off a few minutes earlier than already early! I only have a certain amount of money I can actually afford to spend on whatever repair it needs, so fingers crossed it comes in under that budget. Equally, I hope it's sorted at a time where I can jig my lunch break around to go and get it as a) I finish after they close,  but they may be equally as helpful with picking it up out of their advertised hours, but b) the junction is a NIGHTMARE to try and exit at the time I leave work, I know as I drive past it every day and see all the cars waiting to leave.

All of the ironing got done, despite me opening up the ironing board and it just collapsing. The bit underneath with the slots where you can adjust the height, either that or the legs aren't moving the right way and it doesn't go into that bit. I could have just decided then that I wasn't doing the ironing, but I managed to click it all in manually but told OH we should get a new one as this one even clicked in manually is on the wonk.

2 lessons I learned from working out at an ungodly hour:
    - I am much less hydrated first thing in the morning than later on in the day, so I need to remember to have some water to hand if I work out that early again
    - Bed hair + shred hair is not a pretty sight :joy:

Ouch - car needs £380 worth of work, had hoped for around £200 worth. The good news is I can just about afford to get some of the work (brake discs and pads) done today, and the other work can wait until next Friday when I get paid again, so at least it's not so urgent that I can't spread the work out. They'll be done with it in an hour or so, so I can walk back over on my lunch break no problem and bring it back to work.

Such an annoying cost to have so close after the warranty running out, but at least I will know the car is safe I guess :persevere:

    Thanks Holmes!

OH has actually offered to sub me the money for the second half of the repairs until I get paid, as I text him and explained what work needing doing, so I can try and get it fitted in this week to be done. That way the car is safe as soon as possible, and I still just pay the expected costs next Friday, just to OH instead of the garage. The repairs today should stop the vibrations in the brakes and the steering wheel, but I suspect it's the second lot of work that will stop the swerving, so OH wants it done sooner rather than later
  • I have my baby back! He goes back in on Friday morning to get the last bit of work done, so by the time the weekend rolls around it will all be done and dusted.

I also just remembered my car insurance payment that went out on the 14th was my last monthly payment, which is good as I've got the wiggle room in next month's budget to account for repaying OH for the second lot of work on the car. I've got the date bookmarked in my calendar to look for quotes and take out a new policy, and have money set aside for that. This past year's premium would have been £500 to pay annually, so hoping it'll be under that as it'll be 2 years driving under my belt and I will have one year's NCD to factor in, too

I think I've definitely had enough exercise for today, the shred, the walk from the garage to my work, and then the return trip to collect my car (whereby I may somehow have taken a stray turn and added a few minutes onto my journey, thank god for Google Maps). As much as I trust the garage, I had a nose through my tires and was pleased to see I do have, at least, two shiny new brake discs :joy: I was actually trying to have a quick peek at the wheel that has got the shock absorber leak, but I have no idea what I'm looking for, then just wanted to see if I could see much of a difference between the rear and front brake discs :joy:

I should have asked for a Haynes manual for my car when people asked what I wanted, there's quite a few little bits and pieces I aim to be able to do myself without running to a garage every time, not that I would ever attempt anything seriously safety-related like brakes! :hushed:

  • Eeeek about the car, it's always the way it comes at same time. At least your hubby can lend you the money so that's handy!

  • Bed hair and Shred hair :joy:  haha

Ouch on the car repairs but at least you have had to get any debt to fix it and now you will feel safe driving the car. Car repairs always seem to cost loads dunno if its just the labour costs that make the repair so expensive. Well done on been consistent on the shred exercise, how r you getting on with it?
    Days to Orlando: 462- ☀️🎢

  • Definitely good that OH can help and I'm not taking on any more debt to get it all sorted

Finding the shred okay, I'm at the point now where I get zero aching in my body the next day, my legs feel a lot stronger and I've started to barely get some definition in my back and shoulders from the press ups :joy:

I had planned to do it on my lunch break today, I had a set of small dumbbells here from when I tried doing it previously, but I took one home to use as a mock foot roller to see if it helped the pain in my foot, and of course I can't bloody find it :joy:
the ones I use at home are the style with plates screwed onto a bar so couldn't be bothered with lugging those backwards and forwards, so I'll do it when I get home from my friend's tonight, and try and hunt down the other smaller one over the weekend.

If I can't find it, I may have to pick up 2 more cheap ones, just because there are days where it would have been more practical to do it on my lunch break, like tomorrow where we have the kids in the evening so there will definitely be no free space for me to get it done, so I'll have to get up in the morning and do it again.

Our doorstop milk didn't appear this morning, so I've messaged asking if I misunderstood when it would begin, and noticed that he had tried to facebook messenger call me at the weekend. I don't really look at messenger that much, and he has my actual phone number so not sure why he didn't just call?

We get our last discounted Ocado shop this weekend, then it will be back to physical shopping at the weekend again. I haven't really missed lugging bags backwards and forwards, but I have missed the bargains you get at Aldi :joy:

Happy to report that today is Day 5 done and dusted  past the phase of wanting to due and muscles being horrifically sore now, although I suspect when I go up to Level 2 that will all change. Have you done it, @jwil ?

I've done a few days of it, not got to the end of level one before  :D  Well done!
