Midlife Musings and Measurable Goals

Forced myself up and out for a cycle at 7.30. It brought a headache on as I slept poorly, but I still feel better psychologically.
TADA today
A letter I have been meaning to buy a stamp for and post has been done!
A mini shop where I scored a free range corn fed chicken for £2 YS. Cycled on to the coffee shop for a treat coffee.
A froggy email sent.
Soup made.
Phone issue sorted.
Neighbour came with ladder. I had a good look in the loft. It is a 2 person job. Texted decorator to see if she can help me clear it and she will call me this evening.
The TO DO today:
Write a few froggy letters, print out letters
Wrap pressies for parcel abroad
Walk to the Post Office
Walk to chemist
Back up computer systems
The BIG FROG of the DAY is checking my credit file. Hate that sort of thing but spurred on by AC who used MSE club to check his.
Have a good day everyone.

You're still going for it in a big way DIA .
Keep having the coffee treats when you feel you want to ☕️I remember going through the loft in my last place trying to declutter . That was horrendous , as I didn't have much time and was derailed by my brothers " friend "
You are right . Definitely a 2 person job . Look after the decorator if she can assist .
You may want to get a broomstick to whack the ceiling before proceeding tho🐿🐿

Popping along to say hello and wish you luck with the sale, surveys are taking a while due to how many people are buying.
Did you manage to ditch that bank account? If not, look at doing a switch to someone else who either gives a money gift or a welcome gift, saves you having to deal with Hx.
One thing I did when looking for property was do a browser search for the area and property for sale, sometimes there's small EAs who don't use RM when advertising 🙈Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.7 -
Good luck with loft clearing DIA.If you are going to check your credit file, I recommend checking all three agencies - you can get them via MSE Credit Club, CreditKarma and ClearScore as they all started doing similar online account type things. Once you're set up it just means logging on once in a while. But they do have different info as well as different scoring systems, and you can't tell which one a mortgage lender etc will use, so worth checking all of them. (I found only one had a record of a mobile phone account that should have been stopped years ago - and it took half a dozen phone calls to establish that they actually owed me money, but at least it's now closed!)RB xxDebt free May 2016... BA still not ditched but in hand. I won't need a new account as already have 2 others.RosaBernicia said:Good luck with loft clearing DIA.If you are going to check your credit file, I recommend checking all three agencies - you can get them via MSE Credit Club, CreditKarma and ClearScore as they all started doing similar online account type things. I've had a few days off MSE. I was slow and sluggish so stepped back for a bit. Mojo returning.
House news
Mortgage survey successful and text from the EA to say now the potential buyer's solicitor has the mortgage offer for this property.
I have seen a property that I will go to view tomorrow. Already this was offered at £20,000 over the offer price. If I like it I will make my offer and hope my lack of chain helps me, if not, I don't mind. This one doesn't have a garden and is a maisonette (again) but this time just 2 properties share a freehold. The other shareholder has a basement garden flat. It is in the exact right place and although there is no word burning stove that could be put in. We shall see...
Chased solicitor to check they have started preparing contracts. They hadn't, but will now, just as well I contacted them.
This and that
I had osteopathy today. It was great! Joints and mobility are improving with each session.
Gearing up to start working in a structured way. I have let this go so I could sort the house and help care for my relative, but I have neglected it too long...
MSE news
Overspending on groceries and the odd bottle of wine. Once I ditch the Hellifax account and buy a decent phone I will be able to use an app to monitor my spending and I can start budgeting groceries more closely.
Hope everyone is doing ok. Off to read diariesIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Good luck with the viewing, maisonettes are great!
I'm pleased your appointment helped, keeps your health moving in the right direction.
If you've ever used Excel it's easy to set a spreadsheet up to monitor spending, it's how I've been maintaining my finances for 4 years now.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.7 -

This fug I am in is not shifting. I had a few days of eating and drinking the wrong things and now I have a headache of my own making. I needed a quiet-sort-myself-out day yesterday but I was forced into viewing a property or it would have gone.
House news
The viewing went well. I loved it. It isn't likely to be me as others have offered higher, but I can move quickly and that may be more attractive to her than all the extra tens of thousands. Who knows? If I don't get it I have pinpointed the exact location so it was still time well spent. The owner has another viewing today and will make her decision tonight.
The EA called asking for a date I want to move as buyer is asking. I said second Thursday in January (remembered someone on here said removals are more expensive F-Sunday) Scary. It feels more real now I have a date to move...
Being stressed and tired I overspent yesterday and regret it. I am definitely out of sorts. Bought a little change purse and a hat, some cards, stamps and other bits and bobs. Add in my fares and the sum spent was insane...The new area is full of expensive little independents but once I settle I will find the charity shops as they are bound to be good.
I transferred my CU Christmas savings over to make up for the overspending.
I had a delivery of a few clothes I bought in the sale. Everything is nice but nothing fabulous-can't-live-without so it is all going back.
Today is cleaning and organising, writing Christmas cards and batch cooking. It is also a no TV day.
Waiting for a break in the rain to go and buy some milk. Hope everyone is okay.If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

It sounds great news about your Sale DIA . So pleased that you seem to have a nice reasonable buyer . 🤞everything goes smoothly there as it should .Glad you braved everything and looked at that maissonnette . Obviously you were out of sorts etc but at least you know what way the land lies . You seem to be getting familiar with your soon to be new surroundings , and are coming a long way from when you were slightly apprehensive in the beginning of your search .I wouldn't beat myself too much about the overspending tbh , as I'd treat it as a stress relief system albeit short term . You know you'll be back on track eventually .
I'm going through the same scenario as with the food as you just mentioned in my diary 😸
Anyway , keep going and all will be well 😼7
