Good news about the osteopathy, was going to suggest looking for a training clinic but there aren't very many so depends where you are.I think my shredder cost about £30 years back - they are probably less these days and I think worth it. I bought one which has a slot for credit cards as I like being able to get those fully chopped up not just into quarters where the number could still be put back together.Definitely don't panic about houses - you never know what will come up. Was very annoyed to see a house a couple of doors up from mine had a for sale sign, looked it and it was ten grand less and with a garage. No idea what it actually sold for yet but it's already gone. I'm consoling myself that the layout was probably less nice than mine. It only needs one and you're in a very good position.RB xxDebt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress

Thanks @beanielou can't wait for my osteopathy session today
Thanks @RosaBernicia, I will see if I can buy a shredder this weekend. Thanks for the tip about credit cards.
Yes, it only takes one suitable house to turn my situation round. January seems to be a good time for new houses going on to the market, at least it was on my road. Too early to lose hope yet.
House news
I started chasing the EA yesterday. Just spoke to someone today and he confirms a survey by the building society will be undertaken on 30.11. That is 25 days after the offer. Fingers crossed and all that...
Off to get ready for my osteopathy appointment. Joints not too bad today
Have a good day everyone.

I totally agree with Enthusiastic Saver about compromising on the house but not on the area. We are in a good area and we've lived in this area for 27 years and still like it here. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Sorry to hear about your woes with Halifax . That's something I've always dreaded..credit checks and anything related to questions of affordability for loans/ credit cards etc
In your case obviously it's different and it's just a case of " computer days no !" When all you want to do is something straight forward . When I have the misfortune of catching an advert on tv, I see all these young , trendy advisors . To me tha is wrong , and imho the banks should take a step backwards to go forwards by having older experienced bank managers like we had back in the day . They told me how it is whether I liked it or not , but you got proper help and advice instead of the staff phoning for advice when they are clueless these days .
That osteopath seems very expensive , maybe acceptable for people living in London .
When I was going to accupuncture back in 2016, it was about £40 iirc and if you have block bookings it worked out a lot cheaper . If you do go with someone , I'd recommend an introductory one where you have a proper assessment etc and if you like the look and get a feel for the practice then book a 6 week course ( which should be cheaper ) . If you are not happy then at least you know . I always looked forward to my acupuncture sessions and always felt great when session ended . That's the feeling you should be getting with an osteopath or whatever you choose . Hope it works out whatever you decide .
I'll leave it there ..
Enjoy your day 😼
Re Hellifax, I don't think they want to see customers at all. It is as if they are afraid of face to face communication.

@HairyHandofDartmoor it has to be about area for me too. (Well that and the ability to have a wood burning stove. Haha)If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Glad you found a low cost osteopath. I am glad the house sale is progressing well. I agree on the house prices - sometimes people want a quick sale and sell for less than they should or go with an EA who wants a quick sale and doesn't care enough about the sellerAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
