- we have always been ahead of this with diy pampering.
Well said, SFT! You're absolutely right. I was only thinking this morning that since I've been doing my nails myself (taking a rest from shellac at the nail bar), my hands are looking better than they've been in an age. My nails are well manicured (and super clean from all the hand washing) and I'm already in the habit of having hand cream easily accessible in the bathroom and sitting rooms so my hands are not getting dry. Fortunately my DH also uses hand cream so it's helped him too. He has the Body Shop hemp one (gorgeous earthy smell) and always bulk buys it online so we've got plenty.
We'll be off out for our daily walk this afternoon. Yesterday we walked to a former reservoir which is landscaped like a small lake. It's only about a mile from home but we had no idea it was there until DH saw it on one of his (many) old maps.
At the moment I'm not finding it difficult to occupy myself at home but it's early days yet. I fear this will go on for some months.
Stay safe all, and keep posting. It helps.

helensbiggestfan said:My understanding is that the antibody test is quite simple - just a finger p r I c k for a blood sample which is then sent off to a lab. Unfortunately results are not instantaneous like pregnancy or diabetes kits.Apparently it will be available on Amazon and the government has said that it wants it to be affordable to everyone. It won't be yet though.....but they do want it as ASAP so people know whether they can work or not. Given the financial repercussions of millions staying at home being supported by the State I'm sure they will get this up and running as quickly as possible,
The test for whether or not you currently have the virus is a little more invasive and complicated and priority will be given to those on the front line.....patients and NHS workers first.
Just caught the news ....Boris has mild symptoms and has tested positive. Just heard his address and he sounds chirpy enough. 😁. I know not everyone likes him but I have to confess I do have a soft spot for him, always have........he has "something".He reminds me of a boisterous Labrador......😂🤣.
Just wanted to clarify something here - the current test is not invasive, it involves a swab of the throat and/or the nose, it's the time it takes to do the test and the lab equipment it takes that's the issue in terms of doing multiple tests. It's also a snap shot of today - it gives a positive or negative but that isn't to say that tomorrow you might test positive if you become infected, which is one of the main reasons the NHS don't want to do all these tests on everybody - it's not cheap and it's taking up resources that could have been better spent on things like the Nightingale hospitals.
The new tests being rolled out will not be available to buy to the public on Amazon, the tests will be delivered to those who need it by Amazon's delivery team who frankly deserve a medal in my view. And in addition it will be free as it will be on the NHS. It will show if you have antibodies and will mean that you have had the virus and for the NHS staff, that they can go back to work, these tests will be done at 3 regional labs in the UK, outside of the testing that's taking place currently.
and if anyone is interested - we're half way to confirming the integrity of the tests at Lab1I'm so proud of the people who've pulled this together in such a short time, and am looking forward to actually feeling positive about something we're doing.
Don't know if this helps anyone, but there's so much guff in the press and on tv news, just wish everyone just pulled together a bit more and took care of each other
Thanks for letting me eavesdrop here btw8 -
My husband is back at work today. I want him to go to the Tesco Express after he leaves work as we keep running out of stuff at home. I do usually go to the local shop a few times a week to pick up bits and pieces but as I've been staying in so much we are running low on a few things.
I need margarine and peanut butter at the moment as I don't have anything to put on bread or crackers apart from just plain Marmite which is a gross idea!
I watched the Jamie Oliver show last night and I am going to make his "Corner Shop Curry" later. I had a real craving after watching it as it looked delicious. I luckily always keep Indian spices, chickpeas and coconut milk in my store cupboard.
I have done a hair treatment, put on some makeup and some balm on my feet and put fluffy socks on. I couldn't be bothered to get dressed so I just put on a cardigan over a clean pair of pyjamas. I've been listening to a favourite old album (Bjork) and a new album (Hayley Williams) today. I've read some of my book in the sun in the garden and played fetch with my dog. She is getting so much attention at the moment!5 -
Thanks for that clarification/update fatcateddie. You're welcome to drop by any time.
I can see why people in the front line need testing. What bothers me a little though is that it does seem possible to obtain the test if you have the money (many footballers for example) which doesn't seem to fit the priorities. Maybe it's just lazy journalism and they're just showing symptoms although they're reported in the media as having Covid19.

Good afternoon lovely ladies.fatcateddie........ Sorry but a throat swab for me is invasive.......I just can't bear things like that. I know, I know I am a wimp. 🤣. It would make me gag. Not mad keen on things up my nose either, if I'm honest. I can't even abide nose drops or sprays. 😂. But thanks for the clarification. Things are moving so quickly aren't they. And you are right, there's a lot of misleading information, not just in the press and on the web but even BBC news, which is where I heard (misheard???) the bit about Amazon. My apologies if I have misled anyone.Well I have started the great spring clean.....this morning it was my bedroom. That's enough for one day. 🤣. Going to cook a nice healthy frittata for lunch with some salad that needs eating soon and then I'm looking forward to a curry tonight too, from A batch I made and froze earlier. Watched a bit of Saturday kitchen earlier, they were doing some really nice make do meals using freezer and store cupboards bits and bobs. Just goes to show you can always cobble something together.Maybe a walk later. Not too far though, my back is giving me gyp. All that moving furniture around. I had a sort through my make up bag and I have also sorted out some costume jewellery to donate once the chazzers open again. One final bit of paperwork later tonight whilst I watch something nice.I think you are right Maman - it's going to be a long haul. My baby grandson will have forgotten me. Oh well it's for the best.......it will be worth it if we all come through safe and sound. I'm protecting my son, DIL and unborn baby as well as myself. And I'm happy enough, although of course it would be better if I had a live in lover. 😂🤣6

LL can you not FaceTime the baby, then He remembers you ?
Had to laugh at the live in lover bit, less of the living in, more of the loving, would be ideal"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Going to try Face Time later today.Yeah, I'd prefer a live out lover really. Best of both worlds.....😉.6
-
I'm after cooking loads, cleaning make up brushes and generally relaxing.
LL try the facetime and even record songs and stories. He will remember you. Kids are resilient.4 -
We did FaceTime.....it was brilliant. He was so excited, chattering away, all smiles and giggles, waving and blowing kisses. Isn't technology wonderful.8
