Just popping in to say, if anyone fancies a gripping Drama, watch Flesh and blood , on itv catch up.It was on Mon - Thurs this week, and I really enjoyed it
Not much fabbing here at the mo.Feel like I need a big kick up the backside, to get motivated to do anything. Not sure if it's the weather, all the doom n gloom in the media or what"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
(Kabat-Zinn 2004):D:D:D8 -
Hey Candy. Been wondering where you are. Missed you.
Thanks for the heads up on Flesh and Blood. I missed the first episode and wondered whether it worth giving it a whirl on catch up.
Consider yourself well and truly kicked up the derrière and maybe stop watching so the news. 😂.
As you say the news is all doom and gloom - floods, Coronavirus, collapsing stock market, stabbings, terrorism and the usual political shenanigans. It just goes on and on, much like the blasted rain. And, realistically, we can't do anything about any of it, so maybe just better to ignore it all and go our own sweet way. Well that's my excuse. Tbh I'm sick to death of it all, so I'm just ignoring it all till it goes away.....like Pooh "I'm looking down". 😂🤣
One day it will eventually stop raining and the sun will show its face again.
As for the rest well I am unlikely to be murdered in my bed, I have no stocks and shares other than those coming to me from FILs Estate. SIL can decide what to do about those, either sell now or hold, I don't really mind what she decides. They are a gift, so whatever their value it will be more than I have at present.
I think my house is safe from flooding, it's mainly the garden that is simply waterlogged rather than a nearby river, annoying of course but a few drowned shrubs are neither here nor there. I've had the storm damage sorted so the house is watertight again. There's not much else I can do at the moment.
If I catch the virus then so be it. I'm 68 and therefore more at risk than someone say 20 years younger than me, but if my time has come then nothing I can do will change that. I have of course tried to take a few common sense precautions to protect myself. I've got some masks and surgical plastic disposable gloves but I don't know how effective they would be.
Ive cancelled my holiday so that I don't run the risk of being stuck on a cruise ship (they are like Petrie dishes at the best of times, never mind with this virus). I'm well stocked up with supplies so if we get quarantined I have food, books, the tv and paint and diy materials to crack on with the house refurbishment and keep myself busy. If or rather when the contagion starts to spread across the UK then I'll will try to avoid putting myself in harms way if I can. I would like to think the virus can be contained and won't spread but I really don't think it's possible now. It's on its way and it can't be stopped.
My DIL is pregnant again so obviously I'm concerned for her and also my son who has asthma and is therefore at risk but again there's nothing we can do. She has cancelled her trip to the US next month where she was scheduled to speak at an international conference and is currently monitoring the situation to see whether she has to cancel some UK conferences that are planned. Again just trying to be sensible and minimise her exposure.
My advice......for what it's worth.....try not to worry. Easier said than done I know but since when did worrying ever affect an outcome.
Continue to dress up and show up. Wear something nice, go out with your bestie if you can. I know you are struggling with the issues around your legs and getting out and about in this weather must be really difficult for you so just keep warm and cosy, light some candles, pour yourself a glass of something and curl up with the doggo and a good book or maybe a nice movie.
I think we do need to plan ahead and maybe "batten down the hatches" over the next few weeks/months ahead but how safe we can be is anyone's guess. My husband's illness taught me that sometimes our fate really is in the lap of the gods.
Keep Calm and Carry on Fabbing. 😉.

Hi all,Agree there is such a lot of doom and gloom around at the moment - and not a lot we can do about any of it. With the Coronavirus - yes it is bad, but more people die each year from common flu so all we can really do is take general precautions. I do find it quite irritating that people seem to be 'cashing in' on the panic, charging silly amounts for face masks, immune boosters, hand sanitisers etc. the benefits of which are sketchy at best (leading doctors have already said that unless it's a medical grade, specially fitted for you mask then it's pretty pointless). Anyway, I disgress! My point was, there's little use in panicking over 'might happens'.Actually had a bit of sunshine today, though still very cold, so made the effort to get out for a wee walk. Picked up a box of hair dye and a couple of face masks (the beauty ones not the medical ones lol!) so might have a bit of a pamper session later. Weight is finally going in the right direction again so feeling a bit more positive overall today.Hope everyone's fabbing is going well x8

I would wear that purple skirt suit or the shirt dress.. I'm not a slave to fashion but I do like to know what's on trend. Some things I'd rule out immediately but often I have things that can be adapted.
Good to hear you sounding much more positive today pod.
I'm having a quiet weekend, nothing special going on. This afternoon I've been pottering in the kitchen listening to the radio and doing battle with defrosting one of my freezers. Pleased to say It's now looking immaculate and my inventory is up to date.

Hello Lovely Ladies....
I have had a great day. The rain finally stopped and although it was bitterly cold (still is) it was nice to wrap up warm and get out and about.
Went to Dunhelm and treated myself to a nice suitcase, in a size I felt I needed for a week away, one with four "all direction wheels". It will be much easier than my old two wheel one which really hurts my neck and shoulder having to drag it behind me. I freely admit it was a want rather than a real need but it will make handling my own luggage much easier.
Called in at a chazzer and picked up a nice wool poncho/cape thingy and some books. Spent the grand total of £3.50. I realised that the other books I fancied won't be delivered in time for my trip to Scotland, not unless I buy new ones, so I have put them in my amazon basket and will purchase them when I get back. I'll only take one book. I suppose I could take my kindle but SILs house is like a library anyway, she won't mind me borrow something if I need extra reading material. I usually take my kindle on holiday to save luggage space but I'm an old fashioned girl, I still prefer real books.
Have been a domestic goddess this afternoon, prepping a feast for a family lunch tomorrow. Going to have a simple dinner tonight and then put my feet up and watch a film. Watched "Alexander" last night, absolute tosh. 😂. I normally quite like Colin Farrel and rate him quite highly as an actor. He doesn't usually disappoint but even he couldn't save it. 🤣.7 -
That's interesting LL.
We bought new cabin size cases this week for our trip to Belfast. We're flying with Flybe from our local airport and they have the smallest allowance of any airline. 😞 We found this out to our cost when we flew to Amsterdam in November.😣 My new case cost less than hold luggage one way so it'll pay for itself. 😁
I now need to prioritise what I'm taking to Belfast especially toiletries and cosmetics.6 -

I have been reading that Caroline Flack may have had borderline personality disorder (BPD) the same mental illness I was diagnosed with over 10 years ago. There is a high risk of suicide with that condition. I hadn't really been reading much about her as I didn't watch Love Island but that just caught my eye.
Anyway, I am going out to see Stereophonics at the O2 on Friday as it is my 44th birthday this week. I can't believe I'm almost 45 years old. My husband will be 50 later this year! Where does the time go?!
I have gained half a stone now on this medication, in two weeks! Grr. I am just going to try to eat healthily and get exercise despite that. It doesn't seem like I can do much about it even with trying to count WW points for the past few days.
I bought myself some nice silver necklaces for my birthday, haha. I keep thinking even if you gain weight necklaces still look good on you.I got one with a phoenix on it as that is the same symbol as one of my tattoos. The symbolic meaning of the phoenix is about renewal. The phoenix is about overcoming darkness and rising to the challenge to become powerful and succeed.
I am going to wear my "new" chazzer bird patterned blue dress on Friday night with tights and my higher black boots. I'm not sure what jacket as it will depend on the weather.
I just thought it might not fit me with the weight gain but it did! I just ran upstairs to try it on. Next size 14, but it is stretchy material, luckily! Lol.
I bought a new conditioner from Holland & Barrett that I have just used and I am going to use my new Revlon dryer when my hair is nearly dry. I have been tidying and organising the past couple of weeks and my house feels better for it. I'm just going to read my book today and relax at home. Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.x

It's a glorious day here. DH is busy or we'd definitely go out for a walk. I may go out anyway.
Happy Birthday when it comes round Wednesday.
It's my birthday the week after and I think your idea of buying yourself a present is an excellent one. I think I'll copy you!:D

I buy myself birthday presents as well!!! When I turned 40 in the Autumn, I had a 'wish list' of stuff I wanted and I bought them throughout the year when they were on offer (saving £400) and I put them away until my birthday. I had clothes, perfume, a bag, shoes. It was nice to have extra items to use on my birthday.
