Maman.....Bad luck about the tooth, hope it's not too sore. I really ought to get myself off to the dentist, it's probably been around a year since my last visit.FTD - I was dancing to Roxy Music Yesterday. 😉
good to "see" you again Maisie. I once did a six week stint during the school summer holidays on a fruit and veg stall in the market. I loved it, I loved the banter and friendly rivalry between the stall holders. Some of the language was a bit fruity to an innocent convent girl like myself. It was a filthy job though, I used to feel really embarrassed at being so grubby on the bus going home. 😂9 -
Maman in view of your trauma at the dentist I will forgive your involvement in my criminal activities. I'd never make a criminal really, they'd only have to look at me and I'd confess, too much Catholic guilt. I hope they sort something out about the tooth. I've got all mine but a couple are crowned so minimal amount is really mine. I always thought I'd go for implants if I lost my teeth but I know someone who had all her teeth out and all replaced with implants. Cost about £20k I think and they failed so she now has false teeth.
I used to like running but could do anything that involved throwing, catching or hitting a ball. I have no hand eye coordination!7 -
Sport is definitely not a skill for me. I have no hand eye or feet eye coordination. Im lucky to avoid things that need that skill.
I am actively incorporating more walking, parking as far as possible away from where I need to go to get extra steps in. Swimming I am Ok with, not elegant but moving.
It is true our bodies and brains need movement. It is so easy to become sedinary, eat processed food and feel worse. It is harder to keep active now with so many classes stopped and restrictions. Doing anything is a positive thing.6 -
thepurplepixie I have six implants, five crowns and two bridges so none of my teeth are really mine. Although if anyone tells me that my reply is “what do you mean they’re not mine? I’ve paid for every one of them! Seriously though, I had my first implants nearly 15 years ago and they are still going strong. I lost my three front teeth as the post wouldn’t sustain the crowns so I had two implants and a bridge. Unfortunately a few years later the same thing happened to three of my bottom teeth so had implants again. I think the reason they didn’t work for your friend is that her bone density wouldn’t sustain the implant. They don’t work for everyone unfortunately . The last time I went to my hygienist she said mine was very strong. It was expensive, but obviously I didn’t have to pay in one go. When I had my first implants I had to wear dentures for three months while the implants knitted with the bone. I found that very hard. I know some people have no option but it certainly affected the quality of my life as I wasn’t enjoying my food anymore. My poor old mum had gum disease and had all her teeth out at 15 and has worn dentures ever since so doesn’t know any different. Teeth eh? We can’t live without them but I know that toothache is one of the worst pain in the world. Hope your tooth is a lot better today maman.7

Thanks for the kind words everyone. There's only slight puffiness and no pain at all today. I don't think anyone would notice unless I told them. I suspect that I may have to have some sort of denture eventually as dentist has suggested that anything else could weaken the neighbouring teeth. We'll see what's advised when I have my next appointment. 😊
I think you're right sft. Any exercise we can do is a positive thing. As there is little chance of my dancing group restarting any time soon, I'm going to have to incorporate something else plus I'm spending far too much time indoors. I know exercise burns calories but you'd have to do an amazing amount for weightloss. I so agree about the processed food. I think the main benefits of exercise are the feeling of wellbeing and keeping supple but it has to be linked to what we eat as well IMO. I have to admit to a certain smugness when I filled in the health form for the dentist. One of the questions was 'Are you overweight?'. It felt good to tick the No box. 😊
It's gone back to being grey and miserable today with a high chance or rain/thunderstorms. We were so lucky yesterday with the weather for the outdoor theatre. I can't really think of much going on with fabbing today. I must plough on with my book and definitely cooking us a tasty meal from scratch. So that's 2 mini targets. I'm sure I'll think of more! 🤣
P.S. Have already done my cleansing/moisturising including using my Clinique brush so not all bad. 😉

I just looked and perhaps I should buy a replacement brush head while they're available. I think it's helped my skin but that could be any/all of the skincare routines that this thread has encouraged me with! 😁8 -
I don’t seem to be able to get going today for some reason. I feel a bit sluggish and I know why. I over-indulged on the carbs yesterday. I had some bread, biscuits and too much pasta. The scales show a gain of nearly 2 lbs. I KNOW this isn’t possible and know that it’s water retention. I am not going to beat myself up over this as today is a new day. So today I am going to eat a bit more healthily, cook from scratch, lay off the biscuits, drink more water and if the weather picks up will go for a walk.

Oh dear we're not a very sporty lot are we ? Free have you ever tried yoga ? I do Dru yoga and our teacher is often explaining various exercises that are good for certain conditions, sciatica definitely being one of them.
Sorry about the tooth Maman I have a bit of a dodgy wisdom tooth that I have been trying to hang onto, hopefully you will be ok in a day.
LL I was lucky I could walk home from the fruit and veg shop but hated the frozen brussels in the winter and my hands got very cold.
Busy few days ahead have one of my GS coming to stay until Tuesday but he's great company and will keep us both on our toes.
Grey and cloudy here but will try and eat some healthy food and try to resist the biscuits.6 -
Thanks for the suggestion about Dru yoga Maisie . I’ve never heard of it but I’ll certainly check that out.6

I think mother nature got teeth wrong, we should have 3 sets, baby teeth, then what are now our permanent teeth, and then a third lot when we are actually grown up responsible people who will look after them properly. My biggest revelation was discovering interdental brushes, haven't had a filling in the 20 years I've been using. Just think if I'd had a new set of teeth then they'd still be perfect!8

Hello Ladies,
I was a very sporty child as we had to do so many different forms of sport for PE lessons in my secondary school. I used to be able to swim as our secondary school had it's own sports wing including a swimming pool. I am a non swimmer adult but I get plenty of exercise through dancing to my favourite bashment, reggae and soul music CD's.
As a teenager I did, Lacrosse, Rounders, Netball, Ice Skating in Streatham Ice Rink, Cross country running, in Wimbledon long jump, swimming, tennis in Clapham Common, gymnastics and badminton.
I have done ice skating as an adult and badminton, but that was more than 20 years ago. I even did roller blading as an adult and skateboarding.7
