Eat out to help out - jerk chicken, rice and peas and plantain, with a side of coleslaw and macaroni cheese.I don’t normally buy Jamaican food as it feels strange to buy food I grew up eating, but thought it would be nice to take the children out. There was so much food that we took it home. That’s lunch sorted for tomorrow.5

Glad you enjoyed it chanie. Great idea to take the children out for a treat. But you could have gone round to sugar and had the same! 🤣6

Maman and sugar you both made me chuckle. I must admit, I’m not a big fan of rice and peas and it’s not something I ever cook. Having eaten rice and peas 1-2 times a week whilst growing up, I think I’ve been put off.
The Caribbean weather we’ve been having means I’m so hot and sticky. I‘m not complaining as the weather is about to change. But, I did just have a paddle in thr paddling pool to cool down. The sun has heated up the water nicely (but not enough for a proper dunk!).Me and DD picked some blackberries today. I normally forget and end up picking them in September when they aren’t as sweet, but they were lovely today. I said I would take the children tomorrow to stock up the freeze.5 -
Chanie, I got sick of eating rice & peas when I was younger. It most probably took about 20 years for me to even try the version with gungo beans which my sister H was always cooking and found I loved that version. I love the Tilda version as it is really well seasoned and it saves me having to cook a pot of rice & peas which I am no longer any good at cooking.4

Positive for today is I have loaded the MPV for my trip to the tip. It is full of garden waste, some old stuff of my son's which has been sitting in his old rooms since he went to uni 9 years ago. He has finally decided he doesn't want it. Some stuff went to the charity shop but some is no use to anyone. DH has also given up some of his junk, pile of old wood that might be useful one day except now it is rotten so finally going. I will be very happy this afternoon when it is all gone, I plan on hosing down the patio, where some of the wood has been lying rotting, and giving son's bedroom a spring clean. Feeling positive but exhausted and not very ladylike but sweating like a pig. Sorry for that lapse.
I'm thinking of buying some new bedding and curtains for the bedroom, not that long since it was decorated and it is fine and neutral so I can have free reign with choosing. Some new nighties are also desperately needed, mine are only fit for rags really so it is time for a treat.T
This being positive feels good, I think I had got into a real rut and I'm determined to dig my way out. Fingers crossed.

I love fried plantains!
I need to go to the tip again too PP. We only went a few weeks ago but being in lockdown has made me reassess some of the stuff I'm keeping in my home.
There is meant to be thunder here this afternoon. I'm looking forward to it.

Thunderstorms are meant to start about 8 p.m. here Wednesday and continue throughout tomorrow. Like you, I'll be pleased for something to clear the air. It's 31 degrees here which is cooler than yesterday (!) but still melting. Yesterday I stayed indoors and did some hand sewing. Today I'll read my book and hide from the heat. I can see why a trip to the tip will be therapeutic pixie but get it over with ASAP .
I did my manicure earlier in the week and so much easier to type now without making errors. Today I plan to paint my toenails as I'm likely to want to wear sandals when I go out tomorrow. Unless I need wellingtons!🤣 Tomorrow is our anniversary and out first trip to a restaurant. As it's a Thursday, it'll be interesting to see if it's quiet because Rishi's deal won't apply.
I've got some nighties that are really past it too pixie but I find it hard to find ones that I really like. I like strappy chemise styles but ideally in a midi or long length that wrap around my knees rather than ride up. And I like a soft, natural fabric. M&S did some a few years ago which were completely plain as another stipulation is that I don't want cartoon characters or slogans down the front. Not that I'm fussy.😉

Good morning lovely ladies.Just got back from chiro and a whizz round Aldi. Stocked up on salads fruit and veg. Its on The way back from chiro so it's easy enough To just pop in a couple of times a week rather than making a special trip once a week. I bought some of their Q10 night cream and day moisturiser to try. £1.49 each. It's had a good write up but if it's no good I can use it up on my knees and elbows. It won't be wasted.I'm hiding from the sun now, staying indoors till this evening. Still no storms and none really forecast. 5% probability apparently. And yet just up the road in Stoke on Trent they had a humdinger. That often happens here though, they often just pass by. It hasn't rained properly here in weeks.I managed to find some half decent nightwear in Asda a while back. I'm like you Maman I like proper grown up nightwear......no cutesy stuff, or slogans. Finding real pure cotton or nice soft natural fabrics can be quite difficult so when I see some nice nightwear I pounce, even if I'm not particularly needing it at the time. Mind at the moment I'm doing a Marilyn Monroe. 😂. When asked what she slept in she said "Chanel No 5". I did notice some nice undies and nightwear in Primark. I bought a couple of packs of everyday knickers last time I popped in.Good to see you are feeling a bit better Pixie. Doing something constructive like going to the tip makes all the difference. And a bit of retail therapy won't go amiss either. I've got a slot booked at the tip for next Tuesday. Quite excited.....
so rock and roll. 😂🤣I'm back to my usual sanguine self now, just need the weather to cool down a bit so I can have an energy surge,. This heat drains me and saps all my energy. I kept falling asleep yesterday afternoon and I will probably have a siesta today. Well why not, there's nothing spoiling. Food will be simple today.....I won't be switching the oven on thats for sure.7 -
It is so annoying when you know just what you want and just can't find it Maman. So much nightware seems to have silly cartoons and things on them.
I'm not sure what I want for bedding, which is also annoying in a whole different way. I don't feel flowery and not sure of colour, was thinking of a duck egg blue perhaps or maybe a darker blue. Decisions decisions.
Yes to the uplifting effects of a trip to the tip, I am off in a few minutes. I told my DD that she'd know she was a grown up when she got excited about the bin men coming, last Christmas she admitted she had reached that landmark. I think the bin men are amazing, back in lockdown I bought them a dozen bottles of beer and told them how much I appreciated them. On bin day they often block the road as it is narrow, now when they see me they always pull over and let me get past so it was worth it for that. Unintended consequences!6
