Thanks for the sympathy. Having a whinge is therapeutic. I'm feeling a bit down as I heard a young man who went to school with my youngest has just died. I remember him as a cheeky 5 year old running around and he's dead before he's 30. Life can be cruel.
Maman how did I miss "ramping up" that is definitely another one for the list. I wonder if he realises just how stupid he sounds with his childish slogans not to mention his seriously unfunny jokes about Keir Starmer's briefs.
It is so hot and humid here, I wish I could go down to the beach but I think it will be packed. We have thunderstorms forecast for tomorrow, I think I might take all my clothes off and do a naked raindance, in the back garden obviously as I don't want to scare anyone.
Next year is a big anniversary, 30 years a carer. I wonder if I will get a medal? I'm thinking of having an away day, leaving GS in charge for the day and driving up to see DD, it is a 4 hr round trip but I think it might be worth it.7 -
Purplepixie - you deserve a medal for 30 years a carer. My goodness people get knighted for less. You should take time off and drive to your daughter. Sometimes the long drive can be good for the head to clear thoughts.

I think it is easy to get sucked into the negative loop of 24 news feed and talking heads on the news who parrot the same talking points. Unfortunately, all the repetition does not add to comprehension just to a feeling of powerlessness. I limit television and the news. I can get what I need for work and own knowledge fast enough but not get sucked into the loop of the news cycle.
I am not saying ignorance is bliss, but limiting can be useful.
We need to look after ourselves- remember they tell people to put their own oxygen mask on before attending others. We need to realize looking after ourselves is not something to feel guilty for or self-indulgent. It is needed.
With things being as they are we can not plan far ahead, fearing lockdowns or upward curves- we have to live in the moment and look after ourselves now. It's not easy to eat well daily, exercise and dress well but it is worth it.
I slept in late today and rested. I didn't feel like exercising much but I booked the gym for tomorrow. I have gone five days last week so I don't mind missing a day. My back felt stiff without the exercise and it makes me feel better to do something. I am eating better but losing weight slowly- when I was younger weight would fall off and somehow the good habits would wane. Maybe when we are older, the slower path to loose weight means we stick to the new habits-- oh I hope.

Good Morning lovely ladies
SFT. Well said. It's not selfish to take care of our own needs. After all how can we look after others if we are not in good shape ourselves. I think so many women make that mistake. I know I did. For years, long before my husband got sick. If I had daughters I would teach them not to neglect themselves. You're right about trying to live more in the moment too. None of us has a crystal ball. Life throws us curved balls. Ok this is cheesy......but here goes.....😂🤣
"Each day is a gift, that's why they call it the present".Had a bit of a wobble last night, Got a bit tearful. Didn't think I would be able to sleep but actually I slept very well so don't feel too bad this morning. I have got chiro today and I'm treating myself to my sunekos injections this afternoon. Then tonight I'll have a nice meal and raise a gLass to my husband.I tend to prefer to spend The anniversary alone, just in case I'm a wreck but I'm fine.Have a great day everyone, keeeep fabbing,9 -
Just adding......I think you are right too about losing weight when we get older.Quick fixes just don't work like they did when we were Young. I think we need to think long term, eating in a way that is sustainable for long term weight maintenance and health. One of my better habits now is that I'm eating a lot more plant based foods, salads, vegetables and just a little fruit because I have to watch my blood sugar levels. I now aim for around 10 portions a day.7
