Maman I am doing a manual bookkeeping course, due to start level 2 in March, looking at the possibility of doing the AAT level 2 in September. I am helping a bookkeeper out two day a week (started beginning of Jan) and luckily living it. Basically I am not great at maths, but love anything involving money!!! Makes it all make sense?!
I have the opportunity to go out tonight to a friends, but in all honesty I am not feeling it. Still deciding atm. I will have a great time when I am there, but it's such an effort (she lives in the middle of nowhere, so have to drive) especially in this weather.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0 -
I studied history at college and uni. I did medieval Russia at uni.:)
I find Russian accents on men so sexy!:lovethoug0 -
Like that scene from a Fish called Wanda......where Jamie Lee Curtis goes into ecstasies over John Cleese talking Russian.....:rotfl:
My youngest son does an amazing Russian accent. In fact he does loads of accents, he just has an ear. The funniest is a gay cod German......I'll say no more. And if you shut your eyes you would swear Arnold Schwarzenegger was in the room.
DAL your course sounds excellent. I did bookeeping as part of my secretarial course way back in the 60s. Never realised at the time just how useful it would be through life, nit just in the field of work.
Like you I'm no maths wizard, in fact I have discalculia, but like you, oddly enough I am good at money issues, have a good head for business and can even understand tax guides. :rotfl: Much to my husband's delight and astonishment. Especially when I took over as Finance Director of my husband's company and got him a £2k tax rebate. Best two days work I ever did. :rotfl:
Sorry to hear about you toothache Misstara. Hope it clears up soon.
My good news......
Car passed its MOT with flying colours. Wahoo.0 -

That is what everyone says when I say I like Russian accents.:rotfl: I don't know if it is common to like that accent? I know some women like French accents but that doesn't really do it for me.
There is a shop near me where both of the owners are Russian. He tried to twirl me around the other day when I went in there, lol. They aren't very attractive though. :rotfl:
I do like Irish accents and some American accents too.:D2025 GOALS

Ps. Meant to add, the reason I am so chuffed about the car is I can now afford to pay a decorator to do those wretched kitchen beams - it will be expensive because it will be so labour intensive. But at least I won't have to dip into my savings now. And....with a bit of careful juggling I might still be able to manage my cruise to Iceland.
.
So far i have done very well with my pennies this month, especially as DIL has decided to postpone the London trip. Tbh. I am quite relieved.......I wasn't that fussed, either way. I was only going for her sake, to keep her company,
At any rate I am now managing to claw back some of the overspend on the house renovations so hopefully this year can have the odd little splurge.
I was very good the other day. Saw a fab coat but decided I don't really need any more coats just now. :rotfl:
I have continued with the decluttering and have now sorted out some stuff for the auction house. It's mainly fine bone China and porcelain so not sure if it's a good time to sell because the market for that has been depressed for a while now. Anyway I'll get it valued and then make a decision. Some of it is actually rather pretty so I might keep the best and just sell the bits I'm not that enamoured with.0 -
Well done on doing that course drawingaline (may we call you DAL?:)). It's good that it'll help with your job prospects but I think studying is good in itself. I love the sense of purpose and achievement. Seems that Russian history is popular.;)
Hope your tooth infection clears up soon tara. Glad you've kept up with the moisturising and body brushing. Why not try a little mascara?:)savingmore wrote: »one of my bucket list things is to sail into st. petersburg and go around the old palace. can’t wait...one day in next few years.
Sailing in is definitely the way to go. DH would love to go there but when I looked into a short break, you have to go to the Russian embassy in person for a visa. What a faff! If you go as part of a cruise though that's not necessary.
Great news about the car LL. I know you'd considered getting rid of it altogether at one point but now you're good to go for another year.:)lessonlearned wrote: »I was very good the other day. Saw a fab coat but decided I don't really need any more coats just now. :rotfl:
Same here. When I was out yesterday I popped into the Closing Down sale in Bon Marche. I've only ever bought a pair of gloves in there but I thought I'd have a look. Somehow they had some Jaeger coats and jackets (and a few bits from Peacocks) mixed in with all the tat. I'm thinking they're all the same company and all in trouble. I tried on a lovely pink, wool coat. It fitted perfectly but I told myself I just don't need a coat, well certainly not a pale pink dry cleanable one.:(
I was thinking today that the clothes we wear most are often the ones we rarely spend much on. That's the smart, casual every day clothes. For example, I wear my Puffa parka and my black, quilted biker jacket far more than any of my other coats. They're serviceable, washable and won't be spoiled if it rains (which it does most days:(.) I don't need anything new at the moment but I'm definitely going to make sure I have clothes that I really love to wear every day.0 -
had to go to the chiropdist today . so my feet are all nice and fluffy ,,,,,,,she took a black toe nail off , that i stubbed ages ago , so thats all sorted now , It didnt hurt anymore so not a problem , Still going to the spa leisure centre and went for a swim early this morning , might go again tomorrow , Got chatting to a lady in the pool , She was really interesting , Still need to work more on sorting my wardrobe out , and re newing with new stuff , Always makes you feel nice when you wear something you like doesnt it , Im glad to see some are over the dreaded lurgy............... so its onwards and upwards now for you . yeh to car passing its MOT well...great news.
I had to laugh at the accent chat....I love a male french accent, but not the russian one. Just as well we are all different 😀0 -
Great news about the car MOT LL, yea to being able to employ someone to deal with the beams.
OH and I went on a Baltic cruise a few years ago, we spent 2 nights docked near St Petersburg, so much to see, but for us the highlights were The Hermitage Museum and The Summer Palace, also all those wonderfully coloured Onion Domes.
DAL well done with the studying, it is not easy to fit in around work, life etc, hope all goes well for the next levels too.
Need to make some plans for the day, forecast to be fine, need to wrap up well and get into the garden for a while, I have a pack of miniature daffodils which are sprouting well and a nice new pot to put them in, just need the kick up the rear to go out and do a few things, always makes me feel better when I have been outside, but have turned into a fair weather gardener.
Have a good day all.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0
