maman said:I've got those shoes sashy and a very similar pair that are all black. I bought them last year. They're super comfortable and every bit as good as the Skechers I had before which were 6 times the price and sadly the black soon faded. I took advantage of the 2 for 1 offer to have new pairs at the ready.chanie said:sashy I was going post that maman recommended the shoezone style sketchers on this thread. I have a pair of sketchers, which are sooooo comfy, and when they need replacing I will definitely check out the shoezone ones.
I got my shoes the other day and so far they seem pretty good, really good value on the BOGOF anyway! They're actually fairly smart, I wore the trainers with a denim dress and they went ok. I think I'll wear the ballerina type ones for work as they feel pretty comfy too.
LL, I like the sound of your mustard colour rug. I recently got some mustard curtains for the patio doors in my kitchen/diner and they really brighten the room up. I was sick to death of the old curtains as we had them for 6 years and then I was stuck looking at them all the time in lockdown!
I currently only have blinds in the living room but want to get some curtains as it gets quite breezy in the winter. I quite fancy some teal or petrol blue.
Personal fabbing is minimal as it's difficult to get 5 mins peace with a 3 year old jumping all over me and the 8 month old needing watched so that the aforementioned 3 year old doesn't maul her as soon as my back is turned. 😩
I just had to put the baby gate on and sneak upstairs with the ipad for a few minutes before the dinner and bedtime circus starts. Glad you're pleased with them sashy. I think they're excellent for the price. I bought them first because, being cheaply made , they had insoles stuck in with a dab of glue. I wanted to take them out because my podiatrist had recommended orthosoles and they wouldn't fit into my normal shoes. 🙂6

sashy it’s not easy to get anytime to yourself when you have little ones, but it does get easier. I did ‘little and often’ when my children were young, so I would file my feet one day, remove nail varnish the next day and repaint the day after etc.Sugar how lovely to have your son come home.My newest at home fabbing trial is tinting my eyebrows. Well, I bought the dye for OH as his eyebrows have started to turn grey, but I’m also going to give it a go as well. I’ve just done a patch test so watch this space.6

Here is my latest veg box from Lidl - 7 sweet peppers, 2 bananas, 5 potatoes, cucumber, lettuce, 6 tomatoes, 3 pieces of ginger, grapes and blueberries.6

That looks healthy and delicious Chanie.
I put on a dark pink blouse today and decided I didn't like it. It looks okay on but it feels scratchy and uncomfortable so it was binned after I used it to clean the kitchen floor.
I'm wearing a Next charity shop top over my maxi dress. It's turquoise and it is one of the ones where it has a shirt under a top, if you know what I mean. I need some more maxi dresses as this one is too big for me and I realised I must have spilt some bleach on it. I think I said I lost some weight being off my psychiatric medication and then I lost about another 4 pounds during lockdown and it feels like my clothes start to swamp me with even a few pounds lost.
I might make up for it as Gregg's near me is now open so I got my husband to buy me some vegan sausage rolls yesterday.

Good afternoon lovely ladies
Feeling lazy. Did a mammoth session in the garden Yesterday and I am exhausted today so just pottering about. The house is a tip so I will have to shake a leg in a bit. Manage to haul myself round Aldi and did a bit of a mini stock up. Lots of fruit, salads and veg.Not as good as your Lidl box though Chanie. That's amazing. I must try some of our Lidl's and see it they do them too. Is there a best day to try. Also which eyebrow tint do you recommend. I'm starting to get a few white hairs now😱. I currently pluck them but dyeing might be best if I start to get more.Sashy. You are doing well. As Chanie says it's difficult to get time to yourself when you have little ones but she's right it gets easier. Little and often....when you have the energy.😉.Nice to have your son around Sugarbaby, enjoy.I'm still keeping up with the basics, it just becomes second nature. Half the time I'm on automatic pilot, although I have to confess I made zero effort to go to Aldi's. I went on the spur of the moment, after looking in the fridge and realising there wasn't much in there. I checked their website and it said they were quiet so I just grabbed a hoodie and dashed out.I wore leggings, tee shirt and hoodie, not a scrap of make up. 😱😂. So Not me. 1/10. Could do better. The only reason I gave myself 1 is because I had at least had a bath and washed my hair. I'm glad I didn't see anyone I knew. 😂🤣.Seeing as I can't mooch charity shops I am watching a couple of Pre loved dresses on eBay.....I don't NEED any but I have decided to start looking out for a few bits. I Have set myself a £5 Limit per item......6 -
Maman, I was surprised at how nice the shoes are actually, shoezone is always a place I forget about. I think my mum is going to get a pair as well after seeing mine!
Thanks chanie & LL, some days just feel relentless and like I can't get 5 mins to myself. I always make sure to cleanse and moisturise my face at the very least. I bought a retinol serum, vitamin C serum and hyaluronic acid to add to my skincare routine as felt my skin was looking dull and getting quite a few fine lines. I was previously just using a face wash and day & night moisturisers.
I think the extra products have helped my skin look a bit brighter but have only been using them a few weeks. I'm thinking of trying a cleansing balm as well for a change from face washes.
LL I have been wearing minimal makeup to go shopping - eyebrow wax and powder, concealer and some finishing powder - anything less and I look like something from the crypt. 😂Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. sashy well done on keeping up with your skincare routine. It’s so important to get the foundations right and even if you don’t have time for make up, at leaf you will have good skin.
lessons I used Eyelure eyebrow dye. I did take before and after picture, but you can’t really see the difference, so its not worth posting them. I might redo them when I get my eyebrows threaded once the shops reopen and then post a picture.
Both me and OH have black eyebrows, but I thought the black dye may have looked too harsh, so I got the dark brown dye. OH had about a dozen grey hairs on each brow so they were quite noticeable. The dye worked well and I’m pleased with the result although the solution was weak as it didn’t dye all of the greys.4 -
I've been thinking (lots 😉) about what I'm missing most during lockdown. Obviously meeting friends and family is top of the list especially indoors and in restaurants. Next comes some of the treatments I enjoy. Even though I could do most/some myself and I've managed there are some that I think are well worth the money. 🙂
Probably getting my hair done is top of the list. I'm envious of you chanie having a home hairdresser. I have a nephew who's a hairdresser but he was lucky enough to be in his weekend lodge in Swanage when the lockdown was announced so he's stayed there throughout. He's really good, trained with Vidal Sassoon, but probably only his wife will have benefitted through lockdown. I haven't spoken to him but, assuming he had his scissors with him, perhaps he has lucky neighbours. 😁
Next would be having my eyebrows done. I've managed with tweezers and wax/powder but I do like a wax and tint. Over time, I've got more adventurous and darkened the tint but it does fade quite quickly.☹️
I like a pedicure /podiatrist too but I've had to cut my nails myself so that can wait.
Then there's holidays...... 😉5 -
Hello Everyone.Meant to say Happy Solstice to you all. And of course Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there.Maman. Why are you torturing yourself....😂🤣. I get you though. I've felt thoroughly cheesed off today. Lockdown Is getting very tedious now. I do appreciate that we have to face a new normal because the virus won't be going away any time soon but like you I do miss some aspects of our old lives. It feels as if our horizons are shrinking. It was bad enough being widowed but add lockdown into the mix and I just sometimes feel that I really don't have much of a life at all. Hey ho.....one day the worst will be over and the world will open up again. I just hope I will still be young enough to make the most of it. 😂. And really, I'm fortunate. I have my boys, my home and a safe income. I don't have to worry about losing a job.I do have some plans and ideas of how to move forward when this is over, things I want to do but yes, definitely, there are things I miss. The worst for me is not beIng able to be spontaneous, having to plan everything. Even a shopping trip is like a military operation, trying to time it to avoid the worst of the crowds. I miss being able to just get up and go whenever and wherever the mood takes me, whether it's a mooch round the shops, lunch with a friend or even a solo lunch, just because. TBH the idea of social distancing in restaurants doesn't sound very appealing. I like the buzz of a busy restaurant, I don't like the ambience or atmosphere when they are half empty.I keep looking at holidays......but don't think I'll book anything yet. Just going to adopt a wait and see approach. Hopefully something nice next year.I have a stack of things On my to do list......dentist, eye test, chiropodist, physio, etc. And I would kill for a decent massage. As for my hair😱😂. Hopefully in another month or so these things will be up and running again.4
