Thanks all, DD's thick black hair was such a shock as my DS is a redhead and was born with very light hair! She's such a happy wee soul and DS loves her, although he is a bit rough at times and sometimes gets a bit jealous.
I did more cardio tone and yoga this morning - DD was napping and DS was watching Fireman Sam on my ipad. I do feel better after doing it but some days find it difficult to find the time.
I got my birchbox delivered yesterday and there are some gel eye patches and a peeling face mask that look good. There's also some concealer, a hair blow dry lotion and a micro fibre cleansing cloth. I decided to get it at the start of the year so that I have something nice arriving every month to treat myself with.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Thanks LL for expalining the painting. I will go to the paint shop and try to see if the paint triggers the asthma first sense you said it was rather smelly. There is no point starting if I can not finish it. As much as I would love a new kitchen I have still got to get some other stuff done. When I rented you could not change anything and it done. Now I can change everything but that costs money. I can do it just keep on saving.
sashy the little one is very cute. thank you for sharing her picture with us.4 -
maman thanks for thr link to your T-shirt’s. I’m always on the look out for new t shirts.
sashy your daughter is beautiful.
LL thanks for the painting tips. Will come in handy for when I paint the front door.

sashybo said:Hi all, thanks for the welcome back. 😊
Savingfortomorrow - have you looked at using laminate wrap for your kitchen? My sister used it on her cupboards to change the colour - much cheaper than a new kitchen and it just sticks on. It actually looks pretty good but I haven't tried it myself.
Candy, some photos of DD taken on the day she was born. She had so much thick black hair!"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Aww thanks guys, I think she's beautiful but then I'm biased! 😊
I ordered some shoes from Shoezone the other day as they're doing BOGOF on certain styles. I just need some comfy slip on shoes for everyday use, much easier than trying to faff about with laces with the kids about. They can't be too flat either as that ends up hurting my knees, so have ordered these and these, hope they fit ok.
I'm starting back at work next month on my KIT days - only one day a week until August. I'm actually looking forward to it as it's been so boring being stuck in the house alone with the kids for months due to lockdown. DH has still been going out to work as usual, so at least he gets to see other people!Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. I've got those shoes sashy and a very similar pair that are all black. I bought them last year. They're super comfortable and every bit as good as the Skechers I had before which were 6 times the price and sadly the black soon faded. I took advantage of the 2 for 1 offer to have new pairs at the ready.
I had a bit of a pamper this morning and used body scrub and did a defuzz as well. Yesterday didn't work out as expected becasue the promised rain never came and we had a sunny afternoon. I went to the Post Office in the local shopping centre. It's interesting that very few additional shops were open compared with the food type shops that have been open all along. Some aren't allowed like the restaurants, opticians, nail shop etc but all the CSs were closed and the card shops and book shop. I think companies are being very wary about reopening. In some cases it's to do with safety but in others it's a tactical/business decision while furloughing lasts and they don't expect much footfall.
Hopefully today I'll get some more sorting done but it is hard to motivate myself, nothing feels urgent.

sashy I was going post that maman recommended the shoezone style sketchers on this thread. I have a pair of sketchers, which are sooooo comfy, and when they need replacing I will definitely check out the shoezone ones.
i was going to pop to the shops today to buy a computer printer, as my Mum gave me the money for it. I’ve always used my works printer, but due to lockdown (and not having a job) I have realised that we could do with having one at home. It’s just started pouring with rain, so I have decided against going out. I may go when OH gets in from work.

Good Morning Lovely Ladies.
Who needs an expensive gym when you can spend hours digging out builders rubble. No wonder I couldn't get anything to grow.😂🤣. Thank goodness it's raining today, I can have a nice rest indoors, doing some painting and drawer sorting. 😉I'm another fan of Shoezone and their fake sketchers, they do some really nice soft summer Canvas type slip ons. They make great indoor shoes too, I prefer them to traditional slippers. I have a couple of really pretty pairs decorated with sequins that I Sometimes wear for cruises under my long dresses, much safer than trying to totter about on slippery decks in heels in choppy seas. 😂
Speaking of cruises, It looks like one of my favourite cruise lines might be in trouble. They are trying to restructure their finances. Such a shame if they go under (no pun intended) 😂. I am sure they won't be the only travel company to go bust. Shearings have already gone. Although I'm hoping to have a nice winter sun holiday, preferably a cruise, I won't be booking anything for a while yet. It's my big birthday next year and the plan was to have a really nice cruise - I was thinking New York with the Cunard line, possibly the Queen Mary, or maybe Canada but I might have to delay it. Never mind I'm sure I'll get there one day. Life post Covid might need a different mindset for a while. Maybe something a little closer to home next year.I think you are right Maman, many businesses are probably going to inch forward quite slowly. Opening up might not be cost effective so some might well just mothball their businesses for a while. I know I'm certainly in no hurry to rush out for non essential shopping. I can buy essential clothing such as everyday undies and knitwear etc from Sainsburys or Asda, along with any housewares.....which reminds me I need a new kettle. And of course there's always online shopping. I have made a few purchases from both Amazon and EBay. Sometimes you pay a little more and I must admit I do miss the real life shopping experience. I do like a good browse but it can wait.Maman. I get what you mean about how It can be difficult to motivate ourselves at the moment. With no definite timescales one does tend to lose that sense of having to meet deadlines or any sense of urgency. I was really in the doldrums a couples of weeks ago, I completely lost my mojo. Luckily I've found it again. I think booking our little trip gave me a boost even if it's only a few Days in the Peak District. As it's only around an hours drive away we could have just a had a day out so in a way it does feel a bit extravagant. The old me wouldnt have bothered travelling such a short distance for a weeks holiday, it would have struck me as a bit of a waste but the new Lockdown Me thinks it's perfect. No long drive or comfort breaks on the motorway means we can still shield whilst going on a little holiday.I'm not even bothered about the weather. It's the UK in July so it's bound to be temperamental. .We are taking two cars so plenty of room for a good assortment of clothing for all eventualities plus of course the necessary baby gear. I'm also going to take some groceries too, definitely some herbs, spices and condiments....... Plus a few little luxuries, like posh biscuits and nibbles and something easy for the first couple of days so we don't have to immediately rush to the shops. I don't want DIL to have to worry about shopping. I always used to do this when we went on self catering holidays in the UK when the boys were little.. It made life easier and kept the catering budget down a bit.
I doubt very much that we will be able to eat out so I'm hoping that some of the hotels and restaurants will do some sort of delivery service for the odd treat.I'm getting quite excited......7 -
I'm another that wears ballet pumps with dresses, long and short. Sometimes I wear heels and put them in my bag for later/walking home. Other times I wear them from the start. I've got several black suede pairs that are very smart. I used to have a lovely silver pair (from Shoezone) but wore them to death and had to throw them away. They were particularly good for my sunshine holiday as the resort is based on a typical fishing village that has cobbled streets winding steeply down to the harbour, so heels really aren't suitable.
This afternoon we're going to the National Trust property and it's raining!!! Grr!! It's meant to get a bit better later but it'll be wet underfoot so any thoughts of wearing a dress and sandals will go out of the window. It's so disappointing as it's taken 3 weeks to get our timed slot. So it'll be my trusty Shoezone 'Skechers' or even wellies at this rate!

maman I hope the weather holds out for your NT trip (hopefully you will get to see the last of the roses).
lessons - you have lots to look forward to with your much needed family break. It’s a good idea to take supplies with you. I always do this as I hate paying ‘tourist’ prices.
I saved £200 on our home insurance through shopping around. I had become quite lazy in recent years through not shopping around, so I’m pleased I have had the opportunity to review our family finances.
i have just had a sneaky visit from my mobile hairdresser. I had my roots down just before lockdown, so I was due a retouch. My other therapists have been in contact about reopening, so I have a couple of treatment to book.4
