Hello all, I didn't post yesterday but stuck with my babysteps
Both yesterday and today I've
- been to the gym
- showered, dried and styled hair there
- applied face cream, mascara, lippy & perfume
- worn ear rings
- dressed in jeans, bright coloured tops & wedge heels.
The pt at the gym commented on how glam I looked on my way out today, I think I blushed! lol
Right I'm going to go and catch up on todays posts on here whilst I have a few minsSticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

sorry to hear about yr daughter sugar baby. i really don’t know about phone call diagnosis. i was diagnosed by a doctor 4 years ago as having a uti (no pain in that department). 3 days later when she called a doctor to the house i was diagnosed with pneumonia and told me the antibiotics the phone doctor had prescribed were not good for me. then last year a nurse told me i had a uti. wrong again. wondering if it’s one of the handful of starter things they treat, but two wasted courses of antibiotics.
anyway, i hope she and you LL get better really quickly now. I am states until next week, and there is a real issue with flu here, so many have it and many children dying...it’s effecting the young and the elderly apparently. touch wood, having succumbed to anything this xmas, and i often do.0 -
Hope your DD is soon feeling a lot better SUGARBABY xx:A"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Didn't get round to posting yesterday, a couple of really draining days at work.
Wore mascara and lippy both days, amazing the difference in how I feel just with that tiny bit of makeup.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86

Good morning, dark and damp here as yet. Sending healing thoughts and cyber hugs to all who are poorly, or have loved ones that are not well too.
I am fatigued and a bit low in mood, nothing serious, just dark, wet, winter days and worry about DM There is some potential good news in that area, a GP has visited and suggested that her hallucinations are caused by her loss of sight (cataracts), my niece who has had training working for a national chain of opticians has put a name to the condition, it will at least reassure poor mum a little.
PT today, followed by a pub lunch with social group, this following having a great laugh with my bestie on the telephone on Tuesday and a riotous time at knit n natter yesterday has been really uplifting. I won't have much time between PT and leaving for lunch so it will be smart casual with just a lick of makeup.
Hoping that everyone has the best day possible. xThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Hello Ladies,
Maman like you I have no medical training, but that Doctor my daughter spoke to on the phone, seemed to only take a few of her symptoms into account when making her diagnosis.
Savingmore, it is far too easy for Doctors to get a medical diagnosis completely wrong if they do not see a patient in person but just try to make a diagnosis over the phone.
My daughter managed to eat 2 biscuits yesterday evening. She also ate 3 tablespoons of rice with some gravy in the afternoon as well.
She is drinking lots of water every day so at least she is not dehydrated. She has lost a lot of weight, but I am not mentioning her weight loss to her. Once she has recovered enough to return to work, the looseness of her uniform will show her how much weight she has lost.
I just have low grade stomach pains with cold symptoms, so I am not too unwell. Over the counter flu medication is controlling my cold symptoms, but not my stomach pains. I am so exhausted I am having naps in the daytime as well as plenty of sleep at night yet I continue to feel bone weary and seem to have no energy.
I hope all of the rest of you ladies who are also unwell, are slowly recovering. There are so many viral infections around at the moment.0 -
Oh dear, so many poorlies this year
GWS to all.
I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon and I have my list and my notes - luckily she is very good and listens.
My DS1 collected me yesterday evening for a committee meeting and I found an intarsia dress in my wardrobe that I put over the top of black skinny jeans and a black top, it looked quite smartI do need to have a sort out and try some different combinations. I've been using the serum and creams that DH bought for me, not sure how effective they are yet but they feel nice.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Best wishes to all who are feeling under the weather. I'm not ill myself but I am feeling tired. I seem to get a dip in energy mid afternoon. It has to be SAD.:(I've been using the serum and creams that DH bought for me, not sure how effective they are yet but they feel nice.Wore mascara and lippy both days, amazing the difference in how I feel just with that tiny bit of makeup.
I agree that sometimes we don't see instant results but sometimes just small changes and the very act of pampering ourselves is good for us. I think it's a confidence thing too. Well done on the compliments lucky:T. I know we're doing this primarily for ourselves (because we're worth it;)) but it is nice when others notice.….and a riotous time at knit n natter yesterday
What do you knit Maddie?:)
I've had two lovely thank you notes from the friends that I made the covered hangers for. One asked if I'd made them myself.:o Today I must get on with the bobbles for the tea cosies. If I can cut the card ready then I can sit later and actually make them.
I'm adding to my 20 x 20 for 2020 list. Last night I gave myself a manicure. My nails were too long and getting a bit dingy looking. I cut them down a bit, shaped them and then applied cuticle oil and plenty of handcream. They look so much more groomed. So 'treatments' will be going on my list. I think it's a bit extravagant (isn't it Martin?:money:) to want 20 professional treatments during the year but by mixing home treatments with Groupon I'll get there.
I finished the ironing mountain yesterday. Some of it was guest bedding from Christmas as although I don't normally iron much I do like the guest duvet sets to look pristine.
It's lovely and bright here today (although rain promised for later). Normally we'd go out for a walk but DH is busy and although I could go without him I didn't.0 -
I hope the people who are ill are feeling a bit better.
I have been quite lucky this winter as I only had one sinus infection that I needed antibiotics for. I did get the flu jab but I also think having an air purifier in my bedroom has helped relieve the constant sinus and ear issues I kept having the past few years. That was a good buy.:)
I have been decluttering my kitchen. I took everything out of the cupboards and looked at what I don't use. I have a large bag of kitchen stuff to go to the charity shop.
I bought some new PJ bottoms, gloves and a couple of jumpers from George that are being delivered today. There is a lot of green around as I was looking at clothes online. I did read that was the main fashion colour for 2020.
I am off out tonight to meet my friend for dinner. I am going to wear my faux leather jacket with my short black dress with my hot pink jumper over it with black patterned tights and my higher heeled black boots. I only have a 15 minute walk from my house to the tube station and the restaurant is only 3 minutes walk from the tube according to google so I should be okay wearing those boots.0 -
maman I would aspire to have 20 treatments a year, but you are right to do what you can at home.
Sugar I’m pleased your daughter is on the mend. With regards to the pharmacist, whenever I’ve had a prescription, the pharmacist have always recommended non prescription alternatives if they were cheaper. I’m sure I read that pharmacists were being encouraged to do so as a matter of course.
Maddie I hope your mum is okay.
I’m off work today for a much needed break. I had a lovely soak in the tub with a bath bomb which has really perked me up. Now it’s back to cleaning and decluttering before the school run.1
