Paying with your Phone

Ive seen a few threads on here in which people are paying through your phone i.e google pay and amazon pay. I must admit ive never done this and ive always used my card to make payment. From thinking about it a little more i see it has its benefits, i.e no need to carry card or if you forgot your card at home, the fact it doesnt show ur card number on receipts etc
As with technology nowdays i am thinking about using this method. Ive never done this before can someone advise the best pay apps out there?
Also - How many shops offer this service? How many cards can you use on google pay (i.e store on the app) and can you add credit cards
The main ones i see at the moment is google pay, apple pay and amazon pay, samsung pay and android pay. Is this correct? Which is the best and safest one to use
Thanks

I am another one who hasn't used a phone for payment. I'm too scared that I'd lose my phone and then someone (an unscrupulous individual) finds the phone and spends all my money!!I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

from what i have read i believe they are restricted to contactless amount so around 30 pound. Also, even the older model phones have good security with passcode and thumb print so i actually think its safer losing your phone then your card.0

Bold are the same.
Now called G Pay. This & Apple pay are most widely accepted.
Technically they are contactless payments with a £30 limit. But some retailers will let you spend more. Go to a Apple store & use apple pay and it's no limit.
Not sure how many cards you can use. Credit cards are fine. That is what I have linked. I only have one card to keep it simple.
Which is safest & best...
Well they are all as safe as can be.
As to which is best depends on what phone you have.
Andriod then its either G Pay or Samsung if its a Samsung phone. Personally I would stick to G pay.
Apple, then you are looking at Apple pay.
Pretty sure Amazon Pay is online only. So not really a option for taking out as a card replacement.
Can only make payment by unlocking via either finger of face id.
I also think there is far less chance of losing phone than a bit of plastic.Life in the slow lane0 -

Apple Pay is not limited to £30.
Also regards security you need to enter a pin, password, fingerprint or face-id to make the transaction.0 -
Personally I avoid Google pay and use Samsung pay for two reasons
The first reason is that if you add a card to Google pay that card gets linked to your Google account and I don't want a card linked to my Google account
Secondly just general feeling I don't want Google to know even more about me than it already does
that said Samsung pay supports fewer cards but does work very well for a cards it does support0 -
I use it all the time both on my iPhone and Apple Watch. Apple Pay isn’t limited to £30 as I’ve used it for quite large sums at various retailers.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0

I use my Apple Watch for virtually everything. You don’t need to have your phone with you. As previously stated at most places there is no limit, although Tesco limit it to £30.0

can you use apple pay if you dont have apple products? i am on samsung but seems google pay and apple pay are the two most popular0
