peak Friday train not that busy - although in a vain hope to catch the connecting train ahead I just missed (not a biggie) I got on a fast train ultimately heading to Edinburgh but on which I only need one stop - so I will definitely not fall asleep
I quite lie the tortoise on skates - maybe a bit of a nob stealing that lettuce, but that's modern for youI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

delighted to report that my dodge to catch up the train I missed was successful, not only did I not end up in Edinburgh (which would have been lovely but not the plan for the day) but I ended up on the connecting train with 5 minutes to spare.
that's as exciting as Friday's get
PS Oh I remember ferries, although somewhat wistfully these days, like a land forgotten, while currently dinosaurs tread the land and corridors of power.I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Glad you squeaked through end of the month. Will your child return the money when they get paid?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Monthly report for September
CAR - Cheap Month - luckily not much petrol usage given the current shambles
CASH - Cash still minor but increasingly being used
CLOTHES - Clothes and a hairdo - because we are worth it, but unusually over average spend
COFFEE - Coffee heading up, but under monthly budget but still under YTD
CRAFTS - At monthly budget but still a bit over YTD
ENTERTAINMENT - Entertainment was expensive with my annual event, and now over YTD target. I will promise to stop having fun (seriously I will watch this)
GROCERY - A little more under control, but still unpredictable
HOLIDAY - Nothing this month, apart from a £20 into the savings pot
KIDS - Just about breaking even, with rent payments in matching bank of dad out payments - a happy place
LIFE - Life is good - ie within budget
AMAZON - Amazon a bit lower this month but still well over annual
Decided to pay a little off CC3 namely the amount I used on it last month, plus a little extra just to put the squeeze on later and keep it tight. Aiming low again. I will try not to use the CC this month as it just makes it all complicated with cash flows.
I did quite well in my annual review at work so hopefully (ie usually happens) that means a multiple of the average rise, and having a multiple when its larger (with inflation running high this is likely) this is good timing, not like when I got a 2x performance multiplier and the rise was 0% so I got 2*0%. A bit like my only playing the lottery (Euromillions) when its over £150m. The odds of winning are the same but the prize is larger and also keeps it nice and cheap as it doesn't get that high very often and playing every week is a losing proposition
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
