This bit earlier in job. He had adjusted height again after this I think..0 -
A typical Megaflo costs £1k. Fitting perhaps £1k more. So, your en suite bathroom is £4k. That's not a fortune for a bathroom.
The fact it's small does not make all that much difference to the cost. My mate who was director of operational research for Costain pointed out it's all the cut tiles that take time to lay, for example, not vast expanses of uncut ones.
I suggest that you have a discussion with the builder that includes an offer of more money to put it right. Maybe split the cost with him 50/50. I'm not saying that's right. Just that it will get your bathroom fixed. Suing him, as I have tried to point out above, is a bit of a gamble.
Thanks for that. He didn't tile the bathroom so that was on top. As I was having bigger tiles he advised his rate would go up to £500 a day and it might take him 3 days it might take him 5 days.
I got someone to do tile it for £850 in 2 days. Not too bad a job tho the builder who fitted the toilet too high was happy to criticise. ..0 -
With "Premier Dual Flush Concealed WC Cistern with Wall Hung Frame - XTY005"shown on the right side of the same page, the top of the pan can be up to ~60cm high. You are lucky to have if at 54cm.
Yes, shame Robert Wadlow isn't alive and living in North London, I could have recommended the builder who did my work...😁0 -
Out of interest, how keen would you be to take on this job? Would you give a fixed price quote without even seeing what's behind the tiling?I run my own bathroom and kitchen fitting company.
The installation can be changed and it's relatively straightforward. It's more likely that the installer doesn't want to do so as it will cost him more than he is owed. So he is coming up with excuses (not reasons) not to do it.

I can't see any obvious adjustments in the height of the toilet frame so it may only go down by the height of the wood it's sat on. Maybe 50mm or so.0

And it could be a different frame I guess.0

Thanks. He used a 90 degree bend coming out the back to go down and meet with another 90 degree bend he installed to meet up with the horizontal waste leading to the stack. That's a lot of height. He then had tosupport those on 6"x2". Had he used a 45 degree or flexible waste pipe then he could have reduced the height significantly. Poor planning on his part i think.
That is an odd arrangement. I think the usual is a single 90 degree bend behind the loo, not two as he has done it. The single 90 degree is pointed sideways, and the pipe is connected to that. Done like that, it could have started significantly lower and still passed over whatever obstructions there are.
Trying to explain all this to a judge, though? Good luck with that.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
