My second grocery shop of the year, spent £26.90, I’ll call it £27 in my spends.
I’m pleased with that as I would normally spend £80-£100 a week, long may it continue:D
Dinner tonight, freezer stash gammon steaks, some ropey broccoli in a cheese sauce and a few new potatoes which are rattling round in the bottom of the fridgeNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Some little shops this week have added up, not been feeling too well so been using the local shop around the corner. So, got £10 to add to my spend.
£33.22 spent so far. Need to get something for dinner tonight. Was supposed to be leftover sausages but the ones we bought from Lidl really didn't taste nice (never had them before, thought we'd try).Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3650 -
Spendy day today:
£42.96 at Aldee for the weekly food shop
£16 on monthly non-food essentials (laundry and toiletries), which come under my grocery budget. This family has several eczema-prone people, so I can't do cheap laundry, bath or hair stuff. They get itchy and cranky.
£88.11 left for just under two weeks - will need to cover another weekly shop and a couple of the dreaded top up shops (trying to keep those to a minimum).0 -

miss empty piggy do try Hugh FW's store cupboard chickpea curry - it's quick and easy and doesn't involve many ingredients. I tend to make it with red Thai curry paste rather than curry powder. Just back from A!di and spent £49.77.
£10.74 was spent on 6 bottles of vegan Caesar dressing - sounds extravagant but it had to be done!! It really is the best vegan dressing ever and the stuff sells out quickly so I need to stock up when I see it. I also recklessly spent £1.98 on 2 packets of Fruit-tella vegan koalas!
The rest of the shop was fruit, veg, pasta, eggs, milk, oat milk, bread, a wine box (we may be camping this weekend so best to be prepared) and some chicken arms for the collies. I'm still freezer diving as it's stuffed full and I need to empty before I can defrost it.
Menu planning is definitely helping - there's been nothing wasted at all so far this month! It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.0 -
Another £18 spent, at the butchers. Leaving my purse at home tomorrow0

Just picked up my Click n Collect from A5da, which should see me through to this time next week. Was only £37.57, so quite pleased with that, although I had to put the lamb back and they did t have the fish I ordered for the kids.
I’m now sitting at £250/£360 but if tonight’s shopping sees me through a week, with a top up of the fish and lamb A5da didn’t have, that will leave me approx £100 for the final week of my month (I run until 25th).
I’m finding now the kids are back at school, and all the all days snacking has stopped, my shopping bill is hugely reduced!!
Someone mentioned stopping their deliveries. I did this but now opt for the click and collect which is free and you only need minimum £25 order. I find it’s much easier to control my spending if I use their app, as I can hunt out best prices and keep an eye on my basket total as I go. :jGrocery Challenge Jan 21 - £86.15/£3600 -
