I'm reading along, but haven't managed to post any spends yet. I have a note and receipts in my newly allocated 'shopping money' purse, so will check through these later or tomorrow and update. I know we are doing ok so far, as still using up much of the excesses from Christmas!
Thanks for all the motivation to stay on trackSPC13 #059SPC14 #026SPC15 #026SPC16 #026 SPC17 #0261 -
Slept in this morning and didn’t have time to make my lunch. £4 unnecessary spend to buy a sandwich. Won’t let that happen again0

Well. £27.73 spent at w8rose today; I was busy all day with errands which over-ran, and blew a slight fuse when it came to time to make the dinner, which according to the plan was turkey & ham pie for us, using up the very last of the ham & turkey that isn't in the freezer, and butternut squash & red pepper pie for the girls, using up some of the giant HG squash that I roasted yesterday, as it had developed a small "suspect" patch. We didn't have any butter for the pastry, and I can't use lard as both girls are pescatarian.
So I ran up to w8rose, 200 yards from our home, to get some, but realised I was going to run out of time - there were a few other items needed, and as usual, when there's space left in my trolley I stock up on heavy or bulky items like rice & pasta. So I also threw a couple of packs of ready-rolled pastry into my trolley, to speed things up.
A relative of mine swears by the stuff; her mantra is "You couldn't make it for that price!" But when I worked it out, I paid just over twice as much as if I'd made my own, and didn't end up with quite enough - one of my pies ended up with a "lid" of woven leek leaves. It was decent pastry, I'll give it that, but I'm left wondering whether other shops sell it much cheaper?
I'll need to do a L!dls raid very shortly, but Heaven only knows when I can fit that in as I'm busy tomorrow, Thursday & Friday too. Without managing to actually do any work, or fill in my tax return! Still, next week should be easier...Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
Not done too badly this week, only £28.37 on some goodies for poorly parents and some granola that was on special in liddlies.
Have had jacket potatoes with cheese and beans for dinner, nice easy tea that has gone down well with a sore throat!
I have meal-planned for the rest of the week out of the freezer and cupboards so hopefully no more spends until Friday when we do the weekly shop.
Take care everyone with all these lurgies around😔
