@RebeccaPAgain - thank you! Enjoy your holiday too.We arrived in Guernsey early this morning for our holiday and are already feeling relaxed and content. There were a few amazing old vehicles travelling on the ferry over last night ready for the big 80th Anniversary Liberation Day celebrations.We brought lots of food provisions with us so out self catering cottage by the sea is well stocked up.6

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

it is indeed a beautiful island, lots of sandy beaches and delightful country lanes full of masses of wild flowers.
we had crab sandwiches at a beach kiosk today - the crab sandwich was on my "must do" list for this holiday, It was a bit blustery by the sea but sunny and bright.
we aren't spending much money which isn't deliberate but we mainly seem to be doing lots of walking with casual lunches rather than fancy dinners. We might have fish and chips on the beach tomorrow and watch the sunset. What wild things we are 😉7 -

Still having a very enjoyable but relatively inexpensive holiday.I forgot to mention my MSE duty free bargain on the ferry - a bag of mini toblerones reduced from £7.99 to £1.25 because of a short use by date. Obviously in the interest of health and safety we are diligently eating them to comply with that date.
the island is really gearing up for Friday's Liberation Day celebrations. There were loads of vintage military vehicles on the roads today which made me feel like I was in an episode of Foyle's War.5
