No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Our relaxed holiday is drawing to an end but our lovely air bnb hosts offered us the cottage for 5 more days free of charge until their next booking. Unfortunately we have to get home as planned as we need to resume caring duties for my dad but wasn't that generous of our hosts? My dad phoned today to advise that there are only 2 bananas left so there is an urgency to get home 😉
it was Liberation Day today and we have been privileged to see a cavalcade of 100's of vintage vehicles and glorious floats as well as a Spitfire and Hurricane fly past. We walked miles today - well apparently it was only about 4 miles but I think we will sleep well tonight.

Oh no, not a banananana emergency! Lovely offer from your host though, it's kindnesses that make the world go round isn't it.
I thought of your dad the other day when eating my egg, chip and beans in front of the snooker with a beer, I thought 'I should have invited BC's dad round!' Hope he's keeping well and you bring him back a special holiday bananahttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase

Thanks PIP - he'd enjoy talking at you during the snooker! I read the carer's visit summary and last week every day said "BC's dad watching snooker on arrival. Chatted about the war. MrBC's dad watching snooker when carer left". One of his carers bought him a VE Day commemorative tin of biscuits - that was so kind of her.4

Last day of our holiday today, so we will be back home in time to replenish bananas.
we bought a bag of new potatoes today from a roadside front garden stall and some eggs. We plan to make a frittata next week to remind us of our holiday with lovely fresh as can be local produce. We have already pencilled in a week next year to return. 🏝5 -

Thank you SA. We didn't travel until 11pm and we could stay in our cottage til then so in effect we benefitted from a whole extra day of holiday. Brunch at a cafe, a long beach walk and a bbq in the early evening made for a very relaxed preparation for the journey.
I sold an item on vinted which I parcelled up and sent today. I wasn't really expecting it to sell as it's a household item rather than clothes but lo and behold it did sell for £70 which I'm thrilled about as it had been sitting in a drawer for a long time.
checked my 🐙 account and we are now £100 in credit so I'm hoping to build up a buffer over the next few months.
I gave the fridge a good clean and organised it nicely which has been on my to do list for a couple of weeks. It wasn't dirty but it was very higgledy piggeldy.
