RebeccaPAgain said:@EssexHebridean it is so so lovely. So glad so many people on here have got to see it (even if briefly!). You will have to tell me which pubs were good and not so good! Ohhhh, I'd also be interested to know which the baguette lunch place was! Hope you get to visit again one day!
@Blackcats we specifically chose the local ice cream and it was absolutely delicious! Had we been there longer there would most definitely have been another one...or several!
Well done on your scrutinisation and signing off! I too seem to have full cupboards and freezer at the moment but am still struggling to make meals from what we have. I need to knuckle down to it though - no sense in having the food if it's not getting eaten!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

@EssexHebridean - I'm often guilty of starting a meal plan with a shopping list as the main objective rather than planning based on existing food. In fact writing that down is a bit of a lbm for me - I need to choose a couple of meals a week as "free dinners" because I've already got what I need in stock. Cook once, eat twice is also a tactic that I sometimes forget but am always pleased to do.
it's been a good week for odds n s*ds of extra money coming in - MrBC's £100 from nationwide will be allocated to Christmas, I've had £35 from £co and then another £21 which I wasn't expecting to be approved as we had cancelled the purchase. Mind you I feel like I earned that £21 wading through treacle to get our refund for the cancelled order. I'm also doing a 4 week prolific study which is proving interesting and adding to the cash out figure very nicely.
this means that our Christmas savings are over £1000 but we have a lot of November and December birthdays including a 40th so I'm ensuring we have a healthy balance. We also use this pot for the Blackcats Inc Christmas night out.
repair & replace pot has £250 in it. Health & well-being pot is also now at £250.Concerts & membership needs to be topped back up to £250 as we used funds to buy expensive concert tickets and season tickets for our local amateur football team. Currently £96/£250I've deliberately set £250 as the first target as it seems achievable quite quickly. In reality funds are interchangeable across the pots in the event of an emergency or a "I can't miss this concert" moment.3 -
All sounds in place and ticking along rightly
Though don't forget to make allowance for Secret Santa, you wouldn't want disgruntled employees in the corporate environment underperforming because of a management oversight2 -
Good to have some healthy pots in place. It’s a good habit to get into.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Thank you SA.PIP - thank you for the reminder (in June) about secret Santa. As a conglomerate who are committed to the health, well being and employee engagement of both our team members we will certainly include this in our financial forecasting plans and prepare an in depth proposal to the senior leadership team for approval. It might be an £11 limit this year as the economy is apparently doing so well.
we've had a low carb eating day today which involved eating the fab asparagus we brought back from our holiday. We dipped into boiled eggs probably like wot them toffs do. Tonight we made a spicy chicken salad with avocado. I think 2 squares of chocolate is lower carb than 4 squares of chocolate so I'm counting that as a win too.
credit card statement has arrived so a bit of shuffling money from various pots into the credit card pot and then that's ready to pay on 25th. Other than that it's a slow few days with no money coming in and only planned spends going out.4 -
Well - famous last words about only planned spends going out. We spent a small fortune on tickets to a sporting event. The tickets are very hard to come by and it is a unique opportunity. Feeling a bit eek about the cost but no regrets.2

Well that's what money is for, as long as you can cover it then blimmin well enjoy it. Although I'll reserve my personal judgement depending on what the sporting event is, if it's the pinnacle of British sporting events- the annual cheese rolling contest- then money well spent1

I think that it’s money well spent if it’s a unique opportunity. Making memories is priceless 🙂I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Thank you SA and Lucielle.
PIP - sadly it's not cheese rolling, nor is it a trip to LA to watch a football match.
we've had a great weekend and have enjoyed the sunshine. A trip to a local museum for one of their event days which was great and we've watched a very good cup match at our local cricket club.
its MOT day for the car tomorrow which should be fine but in the past when I was driving older cars it was always nerve wracking.5
