Wonder if he'll do a re-creation of the Do What You Like video 🤭2 -
Your pizza soiree sounds wonderful and very envious of the Gary love. Well done on exiting stage left on the towel front - nothing more tempting than a fluffy new towel!!!! You are MSE through and through these days!
Hope you have a fab weekend2 -
@lucielle and @RebeccaPAgain - new towels are so alluring. I recently bought a bale of towels as a housewarming gift and was so tempted to keep them for myself. As I continued to tempt myself with a new towel purchase I remembered the fluffy towels section in Nancy Birtwhistle's book and so tomorrow I'm going to follow her advice and re-fluff my towels (as a Clean and Green homage to Gary and co's Relight my Fire)
PIP - we saw ♥️Gary B at the same venue a few years ago and he did a fabulous dance routine to It Only Takes a Minute. He definitely wasn't taking him seriously and at the end said that no-one is more surprised than him when he can get himself back up off the floor.
Despite the sunshine and warm weather I've got a slow cooker full of stew simmering away ready for tea tonight and for a batch to go to the freezer. I've prepped root veg mash as well, using up all the odds and ends of veg. Will freeze a tub of that too. This will be a "free" dinner for the last week of the month when I'm trying to have an ultra low grocery spend week. I've also get a portion to take to dad's tomorrow for his tea. Next week's batch cook and resulting "free" dinner will be a sausage cassoulet type dish.4 -
How do you refluff your towels? Mine could certainly do with this.

Was just going to ask how to refluff the towels - was also fiddling with the towels in dunhelm but resisted !Sealed pot challenge 822

@joedenise and @dawnybabes - according to Nancy Birtwhistle fabric conditioner makes the pile of the towel flat, so they won't be soft and fluffy. Putting too many towels in the washing machine does too as they get squashed together
she suggests putting washing soda in the soap dispenser drawer to soften the water (only add washing powder or liquid if the towels are very dirty) White vinegar in the fabric conditioner dispenser.
when washed take one end of the towel and shake very vigorously and then turn to the next side and do the same, all the way round the towel. This apparently lifts the pile and refluffs it. Line dry. It's worth a try as the weather is nice.
I understand the logic of what she says. I can now imagine the 3 of us performing the shaky shaky towel ritual tomorrow. I've already warned OH that he will be required for two person shaking duties.
dawnybabes - we did well to resist the new towels. I have plenty/too many towels but after a winter of drying on an airer they are very uninspiringly stiff and scratchy.3 -
Will need to buy some washing soda as run out! Not sure it’s needed though as we have a water softener. Perhaps I’ll just try the shaking bit first. Never use fabric conditioner in case I end up tumble drying as my dryer says not to use it so stopped using it years ago.2
