  • Smiles per £ is an excellent calculation, and nice to be able to both enjoy and leave!

Why Skipton regular saver rather than funding other pots? Or would that be one of the pots?

I feel your pain on the pots. I’m £30 short of where I want to be this month and got £70 till next Friday. I’m hoping there will be some left to try and catch up.

@lucielle - I am hoping to get £500 each into the replacement/repair pot and the dental/vet/optical pot by end of March which I think I can achieve.
@Alchemilla - I use my Chase account which allows 10 separately named savings pots.  I have to keep the funds distinct from each other or I'm fairly sure I would get myself into a pickle and spend money more than once.  I know some people keep 1 big savings pot and know exactly how it is divided up across the categories.  I'd definitely be no good at that.

We popped into m n s food yesterday for a couple of bits.  It's the only supermarket in our walking distance high street and it's handy for occasional visits.  At the checkout I started a mini moan about hot cross buns being on sale too early, being available in too many flavours (can a cheese hot cross bun even be legal?).  The lady behind us said that the apple buns are delicious.  I'm so easily swayed that I jumped off my high horse and added a pack to our items.  We took a flask and an apple hot cross bun on our walk today - let's just say that i am a convert.

on our walk we bumped into 3 different neighbours in 3 different places on our walk.  The layout of our close means that we don't often see our neighbours so it was nice to catch up with 3 lots of news and a sprinkle of harmless gossip.

Oh dear.  We all manage to find a way that works for us.  It took me ages to get my money management into some semblance order order.  Mind you, I'm not sure if anyone else could comprehend my system. 😵‍💫

We had a leisurely brunch at our local cafe with a collective of some grandchildren.  It works really well as it's a relaxed atmosphere and each child can chose what they want to eat and drink.  My grandson's kitkat milkshake looked very tempting.  It's not necessarily super cheap but better value than many other eating out choices.

I did a few 5 minute bursts of tidying/organising this afternoon.  It wasn't standard housework tasks but a re-organisation of a couple of drawers and some shredding and filing.  It's very pleasing to get a quick result.  Will do some more bursts tomorrow and I've already thought of a couple of out of sight out of mind drawers to focus on.

That sounds a nice time with GCs. Since we moved I don’t really have much to cull.

PIP - you need to hurumph about how early the hot cross buns are on sale, how non traditional blueberries are, make sure you are frowning (eye rolling too if you want) and then put a packet in your basket and enjoy them served with a slice of humble pie.
@lucielle - my 5 minute bursts are proving to be not so much about culling copious amounts of stuff but more about organising and putting things in the right place.

so today I gave the washing machine dispenser drawer a really thorough clean and put the machine on a v hot wash with white vinegar and washing soda to give that a good clean,

The second burst was aimed at my bathroom cabinet which wasn't too bad but I took everything out, cleaned the shelves and tidied it up.  I was very happy to find some of MrBC's razor blades - not happy that they were in MY cabinet but happy that he can delay purchasing more for a few weeks.  I also found a Jo Malone aftershave sample which I kindly donated to MrBC.

I started the week at my dancercise class which was fun.  We had a stand-in instructor today who had clearly over estimated our ability to move forwards and backwards in sync, let alone our ability to move forwards and backwards diagonally whilst clapping to the music 💃.  Lots of laughs.
Mr BC swims while I dance and then we meet in the leisure centre cafe for our Monday morning team briefing.  I think we know what we are doing, where we are going and what we are likely to be spending this week.
