Council illegally making charges on my property

not entitled to tish, unfortunately, I worked damned hard for a living, to move forward and paid my way. because I did so, when things changed I got penalised for it, looks like the councikl are trying hard to make it fact that I should have been a leech on society and held my hands out, certainly not gong to pay british taxes ever again, as soon as the house is sold I can get out of the place for good, apart from the occasional visit to blighty and cause problems for the council
Well you could have applied for it but you'd presumably have been sanctioned for giving up your job. That sanction would almost certainly have extended past your eligibility abroad so wouldn't have been worth applying for anyway. I don't think that it's unreasonable that the government tries to discourage people from making themselves unemployed and claiming benefits and whilst you obviously had a good reason for it these things are often quite inflexible (largely I suspect as a result of decades of mick-takers.)
I also suspect that wherever you are now is barely any more generous, if it is at all, with its welfare system.
But at the end of the day the situation is, you're not eligible for benefits, including council tax reduction for one reason or another and you're going to have to find a way to pay the bill which is legitimately owed.0 -
To be entitled to claim UK benefits in an EU member state, you have to satisfy the same conditions as you do to receive it here and have been in receipt of said benefits before you moved abroad; you did not and do not, OP. Unless you were prepared to actively seek and make yourself available for work, were you to return here, you would still not be entitled to any benefits even if you moved back into your house.
I suggest you pay what you owe before the charges become any greater than you have already allowed them to become.
Should I steal some shirt buttons to pay these extortionate charges? just curious you know
I cannot sell the property as the co owner will not give permision and as I am not working, with what should I pay?:A:ARemember, Never drive faster than your angel can fly!:A:A0 -

You dont need to pay anything, the council will get their money once they have a charge put on your property. They may or may not force a sale but they will get their money, the longer you leave it the more of the equity will be lost. Your co-owner will have zero to say about it.....are THEY paying council tax?0 -

She is holding her hands out claiming anything and everything, so I would imagine that she is paying the little she'd have to on her nice shiny new council home.
a shame she cannot be arsed to reply to letters from the court or solicitors and allow the sale to go ahead, maybe she'd have to give up her hard fought for benefits if he ended up with a share of the proceeds, who knows?
Maybe she could phone her chldren up too, sorry I'll wash my mouth out now!:A:ARemember, Never drive faster than your angel can fly!:A:A0 -

The point being the whole issue is because they are charging too much. maybe I should just move back to the UK and become a leech like so many others and just hold out my hands for any and every benefit, claim a new council house while i'm at it
makes my blood boil
Point Being- I also think they charge too much, but like millions of other hard working people I am neither a leech nor do I claim benefits, I have to pay my council tax whether I like it or not.
Why don't you simply get your mail forwarded and stop pretending its not your fault.0 -

So, she co-owns a property and yet she has been given a shiny new council home.
I think you re making this up.0 -

That is one of the joys of becoming a single parent, I got the children and the marital home until the children are adults, which I wish to sell now but can't
She on the other hand claims everything she can, because she can:A:ARemember, Never drive faster than your angel can fly!:A:A0
