Actually youll find that when I came here, another member state of Europe, I am also entitled to claim uk unemployment benefit, but only if I was entitled to it whilst I was there, which I wasn't as I 'gave up' my job, driving lorries to look after my children, which I though was a far better option than letting the social services take them into care. I'm sure most fathers wiould do the same.

Sorry - sob stories don't work here

And by the same token, you know full well that you have to pay Council Tax and you also know that if you are in arears they will write to you. You also know that if you do not respond to their letters it will end up with court action. You also know that you have made no attempt to have your mail forwarded to you. So you have buried your head in the sand and thought that as you are now abroad you will ignore the fact that you are not paying your bills.

The point being the whole issue is because they are charging too much. maybe I should just move back to the UK and become a leech like so many others and just hold out my hands for any and every benefit, claim a new council house while i'm at it
    makes my blood boil

You said it yourself so why state you should get benefits?

Think you'll find that you'd also be excluded from most benefits because you own a house you don't live in.

No sob stories in evidence, just a set of circumstances

    Only for 3 months apparently.

It would have barely made a dent in your CT bill unless your house is a mansion.

Yeah, but you weren't entitled to JSA so it's a moot point really.

not entitled to tish, unfortunately, I worked damned hard for a living, to move forward and paid my way. because I did so, when things changed I got penalised for it, looks like the councikl are trying hard to make it fact that I should have been a leech on society and held my hands out, certainly not gong to pay british taxes ever again, as soon as the house is sold I can get out of the place for good, apart from the occasional visit to blighty and cause problems for the council

To be entitled to claim UK benefits in an EU member state, you have to satisfy the same conditions as you do to receive it here and have been in receipt of said benefits before you moved abroad; you did not and do not, OP. Unless you were prepared to actively seek and make yourself available for work, were you to return here, you would still not be entitled to any benefits even if you moved back into your house.

I suggest you pay what you owe before the charges become any greater than you have already allowed them to become.
