  • Just been stung with an £80 fine for a scheme I'd never heard about.
The sheer number of complaints I've read about the lack of clarity here is enought tell you that the signage is inadequate (compliant, maybe, but adequate, definitely not). Nothing about "TFL, Ultra Low Emission Zone, At all times." suggests you have to pay a charge. Why not simply say "Have you paid the ULEZ charge?" or "ULEZ Charging Zone" or "ULEZ charge applies here". The people responsible to creating the signage are either incompetent, or deliberately trying to catch people out. I see no other option.

Nice tag onto a year old thread.

Never go into London, & live 200+ miles away. Yet somehow know about ULEZ.
Maybe because it's been in the news so much.

The main difference, of course, is timings... The CC isn't 24x7, ULEZ is.

But the signs are still very visible at all the boundaries, and it's still just as much the driver's sole responsibility...

And of course getting much wider come October. I still snigger at Lez and Ultra Lez, but that says more about me than the acronym.

Well, the basic LEZ has been in place since 2008, out to the very edge of the boroughs...
