What will the tribunal cost you? Only you can say if it's worth it for having your "day in court", but as you can see from the responses here, you have an extremely weak argument.

    Their site says:

We will not accept the following explanations:

Forgetting to pay the charge, without any mitigating circumstances for doing so
Not knowing how to pay the charge
Not meaning to enter the ULEZ or entering it as a result of getting lost
    Disapproval of the ULEZ scheme
    Not knowing about the ULEZ

Well this was all a waste of time. Even TFL themselves on the phone were more supporting and understanding.

It's just a different flavour of "no". It's still the same meal.

And it's your responsibility to get that further information rather than just driving by and assuming they don't apply to you.

So you've passed those signs before. Although this was the first time you were in a vehicle that generated a penalty, it wasn't the first time you'd driven into the ULEZ. Even more reason to wonder what the signs were about and look into it before going in the next time.

How do you know which are safety related and which aren't, if by your own admission you didn't know what the ULEZ signs were?

See above. It wasn't your first time driving into the zone. How many second chances do you want?

Now you're being ridiculous. It's your responsibility to drive safely AND heed all applicable road signs. If you can't manage both simultaneously, you should question whether city driving is a good idea and whether public transport may be a viable (and possibly cheaper) alternative.

Because safety signs are obvious. ULEZ signs are not. I find it hilarious that you chose to question my driving but let’s not get in to that before I embarrass you further. Maybe you should question why you are on a “money savings” forum. Perhaps you are one of the TFL staff who take great pleasure in dishing out fines.

    Get a life. :T

    Signs yes.

Obvious on all occasions on all routes. NO.

Afraid it is , I have regularly driven up to London , regardless of approach it's signposted (as is the congestion zone AND the 50 mph speed limits) on the way to London from Kent ( where I live ).

I hate to think what other road signage you miss whilst driving.

Accept the mistake and move on with you life

    Dear god,

Part of my point was yes, i admitted to not seeing the signs. I was eluding this the fact that it seems unfair to punish first time offenders who have despite the oversight have been happy pay the £12.50.

That doesn’t mean that I am oblivious to all safety related traffic signs. Jeez! Not seeing a small green sign that has only been a thing since April and is knit widely publicised outside of London is a bit different to not knowing wha a red traffic light is or what a stop sign is. So for those having a go at my driving........wind your necks in.

Oh dear. You really need to be paying more attention when you're driving, or at least get a passenger to help.
I find it hilarious that you chose to question my driving but let’s not get in to that before I embarrass you further.
Thank you for sparing me further embarrassment.

To help people save money. You may not like the advice you're getting, but it's good advice. I suggest you pop over to a different site such as tellmewhatiwanttohear.com to see if they offer anything different.

Perhaps. Then again, perhaps not. I do work for an opticians though, so you're welcome to register for an eye test.

I think there's another stage of appeal to go through first.

Look, we all know it’s a massive rip off money maker.

Sorry for wandering in to the TFL staff forum.
  • Edited to show what you really meant.

    Any advice appreciated
(provided that it states that I am correct and the money grabbers at TFL are nasty people who are trying to rip off innocent motorists.)
