Ohhh MT isn’t it a nice feeling when your clothes feel a bit looser? Mine were feeling that way a bit before Christmas, but not so much now!
Glad your first day back was ok, bet you are ready to get back into a routine. I was after my 2 weeks off, although it seems a distant memory now!
I’m day 6 of dry January so I’m hoping along with this and my running and exercise I’ll have lost a few pounds too.....
Hope tomorrow goes ok when the children are back in school x0 -
Thanks Happy.
I am totally knackered today ! Been a very busy day with a long dull two hour meeting after school to top it all off.
Couldn't face a run today so to keep up the RED January mission went for an extra long walk with the dog instead.
This exercising every day in January lark is harder than you'd think..... I'm determined to do it though, just to prove to myself that I can, so I'll press on with a gym run tomorrow, even if it's only 4-5km after a day at work.
Not spent anything today and don't think I need anything tomorrow either so hopefully it will be a thrifty few days.
Won't be late to bed tonight- a bit of Silent Witness then a kip!0 -
Oh MT, I know just how you feel regarding the exercising....I should have gone running yesterday after work but I was shattered, so took it as a rest day. I’ve been to a new fitness place near to me and done a circuit class tonight which was good, then it’s running club tomorrow. I’m still only on 5k, I honestly can’t imagine I’m going to get any better, it’s such a hard slog....
Ohhh I’ve got Silent Witness recorded, I’ll watch them both together at the weekend. Did you watch Bancroft? I really enjoyed it. I love SAS are you tough enough too, really inspiring. And Ant Middleton is rather dishy too!!
Have a good rest of the week, we’re over half way through xxx0 -
I did enjoy Bancroft Happy - she was a right one!
The running is also a work in progress for me - sometimes I just don't feel it but force myself and I'm always pleased that I have afterwards.
Managed to get home by 4.30, took the dog for a 30 min walk then, before I could change my mind, went straight to the gym with the intention of just running 5k and then coming straight home again. It didn't seem so bad as I knew I just had one job to do there - in and out. Wasn't a bad time either considering I'd been on my feet all day and then walked the dog before going
Work is really busy at the moment - lots going on as well as the usual stuff so it's just a whirlwind of not stopping from the minute I get there to when I leave. Better busy than bored though I suppose.
Have had some tea, hoovered and dusted downstairs, cleaned the wooden floors and the kitchen, had a bath and done another shortish dog walk again and am now finally sitting down for an hour of telly before bed.
Will watch Silent Witness on catch up and watch the new drama with Stephen Graham on ITV instead.
Two more days....0 -
Mad day at work. Another day without even the time for a wee.
It's done now though.
Was too tired to run today so did a 4km walk with the dog to keep up the RED January streak. 14000 steps done today, that's enough!
Still no booze either - a full 3 weeks now. The longest I've gone without in years
Been good with food all week too - taken granola and Greek yogurt to work every day for lunch and had a sensible tea - no calorie counting, just cutting down on rubbish.
Last day tomorrow thankfully - just 5 more to go. Sounds better as 25 get ups.
I'm hopefully going on a walk with the women's group tomorrow evening if the weather isn't too bad. I have loads of school work to do over the weekend - been summoned to a governors meeting in two weeks time but they need all the reports etc a week in advance so will have to get cracking with it on the weekend as I don't get any time at all in work to do any work! It was anticipated so not a surprise, I just didn't know when it was going to be. Will treat it as a challenge to show how much my area has improved and not stress over it.
Was going to start a bit tonight but after a long day, long walk, tea and a bath I'm pooped so will just chill out for an hour and try to have an early night and make an early start tomorrow instead.
Roll on the weekend!0 -
Well it's Saturday and its been a long tough week. Was really tired last night so didn't go to the walk (going tomorrow instead), ended up walking the dog (long walk to keep up the RED January streak), having a long bath, but of telly then early night.
Felt better this morning and so went for a run that I'd hoped would be 7k but felt quite good so ended up doing 10k!!! My first in over 6 months
Properly chuffed with that, even if I have very tired legs now. Did it in 2 mins less than my old PB too.
Have also weighed and lost just 1lb, but every lb counts I suppose.
Add two dog walks into the mix and I think I deserve a little sit down now for an hour......
I've also managed to get a few chores done - hoovered and dusted downstairs, quick clean of the conservatory, sainsburys food shop, bought hair dye to do my lovely grey roots, 2 loads of washing and a clean of the kitchen.
I've got a lot of school work to do this weekend and will probably dedicate tomorrow morning to it after a shorter run at the gym (if I can walk!) - got a group walk with the new women's group at 2pm so I need to crack on with work in the morning and also get all of the chores out of the way today, including the dreaded hair dyeing. Might do a teeny bit of work later if I get bored but I would have to be very very bored
Right, a bit of telly then need to clean the bathrooms, do a bit of ironing and sort clothes for next week. Oh and another dog walk at tea time - my feet might fall off today.....0 -
Crikey MT I’m shattered just reading your post!! Well done on the 10k that’s amazing, you must be so chuffed. I’ve not been to running club at all this week, but am planning to run tomorrow morning.
I wouldn’t worry about the scales, my sisters been running for about 6 months now and hasn’t lost weight but her shape has really changed and she’s toned up. She says her clothes feel better too.
I’m spending the rest of the day relaxing, tomorrow will be a run or some form of exercise first thing, then I’m dedicating the rest of the day to household chores, getting ready for work on Monday and cooking a Sunday dinner.
I’m doing dry January and really fancy a glass of wine tonight, but going to stick to my AF beer......stay away from the wine will be my mantra tonight!!
Have a lovely rest of weekend x0 -
I thought of you the other evening MT, as I passed a group of runners going out for an evening run, on my way to collect a DD from her sports club. I was impressed that the darker evenings weren't hindering their running plans. How is your evening group going?paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Hi Happy and Honey - great to see you.
I'm still on Dry January too Happy - well, dry end of December and January- two glasses of wine on Xmas day but otherwise nothing since 19th Dec.
I'm surprised at how easily I've broken the habit - I thought going back to work might test me a bit with previously winding down after work with one or two glasses of wine but it's been fine. Not really missing it at al strangely. Was obviously just a bad habit I'd fallen into.
With regards to the weight thing - my goal was to lose 20lbs by the end of March and thinking about it, I've got less than a stone to go now. Sounds much more positive like that
My shape is definitely changing though and I feel loads better in myself and in clothes so it's all good
Honey - the women walkers are great, really friendly and easy company. Really glad I made the effort - we're meeting tomorrow for another stroll.
I've made myself dye my hair this evening - absolutely hate doing it but needs must - will get it done at the hairdressers every other time so they can tidy up the cut etc but I can't be doing with spending the extra money every three weeks and sitting there for what seems like hours every couple of weeks. Once every 6 weeks is enough. I enjoy it when I'm there but it's a luxury every three weeks.
Been watching an Australian mini series on Netflix called Deep Water - it's a crime drama, only 4 episodes and a bit different to the usual. Really enjoyed it and would recommend it.
Little list for tomorrow ...
1. Morning dog walk
2. Gym
3. Finish stuff for meeting on Monday
4. Write PP overview report
5. Timetable stuff
6. Write policy
7. Meet women's group for walk (with dog)
8. Make veggie meatballs and pasta for Sunday and Monday
9. Phone home
10. Sort clothes
Busy day, but I'm trying to make time to get out and about with people too.0 -
Busy day again.
But a productive one - managed everything on the list except writing the policy - ran out of steam but can do it tomorrow.
Had a nice long walk when it eventually stopped raining with the women's group - 7 km along the canal and back. The pup is shattered now bless him.
Done a bit more work this evening and am now all packed away and settling down to watch Vera. Rock and roll Sunday night0
