I have sent an SAR and received this response -
Good Morning,
Thank you for your email.
I have passed this email on to our Data Protection Officer.
You will receive a response shortly.
In the meantime, if you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.0 -
I also notified Hladstones that I was filing an SAR and asked for the case to be put on hold.
I received this response -
Request for Restriction of Processing of Data
We refer to your request regarding the restriction of processing of data.
Unfortunately we cannot process your request because we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing of your data which override the interests, rights and freedoms of you as an individual. That legitimate interest being that we are acting on behalf of our client for the recovery of monies relating to an unpaid Parking Charge Notice.
To process your data is necessary and lawful, as it is required in furtherance of our client’s instructions, and we act for them on their rights and obligations for the recovery of such monies
As Court proceedings have now been issued, we are obliged to follow the Court process, which includes adhering to any deadlines/directions set by the Court.
To process your data is necessary and lawful, as it is required in furtherance of our client’s instructions, and we act for them on their rights and obligations for the recovery of such monies.
If you are not satisfied with our decision, you have a right to complain to a supervisory authority. At this stage you should contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at Wycliffe, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, SK9 5AF (Telephone 0303 123 1113). Please note that time limits may apply and so you should contact the ICO as soon as ever possible following our review decision.
We must also advise you that you also have the right to a judicial remedy (ie claim compensation through the courts), if you remain unsatisfied with the outcome of a complaint to the supervisory authority and you believe there has been a breach of the General Data Protection Regulation 2018. The ICO cannot award compensation and so if you cannot reach an agreement with us on the amount of compensation where appropriate, you can apply to court. You should seek independent advice at any stage that you feel it necessary.0 -
Almost everyone gets that rejection , it's normal1

But did you tell Gladstones that you were seeking 'debt advice'? Awaiting a SAR response is not a reason for them to suspend proceedings. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I filed this email
I have today (178/12/19) filed an SAR with UK Car Park Management Ltd.
As such I require a restriction of data processing and that the case should be put 'on hold’.
I can confirm my address is xxxxx for servicing.
Kind regards0 -

On that basis, they have no requirement placed on them to put proceedings on hold. Write again telling them you are seeking debt advice.
But, if it's simply to wait for the SAR, often there's nothing to get excited about in any SAR response, and usually anything in it worthwhile can wait for your Witness Statement. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. This is interesting - a post on Nappy Valley about, I think -the same car park.
A Quote -
"If you enter the car park and don't buy a ticket and are more than 10 minutes, even if you're just waiting in the 'Pick Up & Drop Off' area, then you'll be liable for a fine of £60 or £100. (the lesser if you pay within 14 days) Both of the car parks are covered by ANPR cameras which record your number plate whenever you enter and leave the car park. There is no warden on duty. If you're not careful then a nasty surprise will arrive on your doormat a week later.
At the moment, January 2019, there is no clear signage stipulating the maximum waiting time period and/or that you even have to pay if you're waiting in your vehicle. The car parking enforcement company has no access to the car park CCTV either so will not be able to check your position either way. As the car park is privately owned the agreement between both parties is covered under contractual law and without the correct signage they cannot enforce their position. So should you have an issue, like me, than that is your 'get out of jail free card'. But that I am sure will be subject to change in the near future."
