Decluttered energy today by going to a dancercise class and then Pilates so not much time before grandchildren were back from school. Felt I deserved time off for good behaviour over last 2 days lol

  • May I join too please ?

I’d like to go for the 52 in 52. Is this okay if this represents 52 bags to the charity shop or boot sale ? Anything I sell on eBay I plan to account for seperately.

We need to set out decluttering goals but have started off with Christmas jumpers and sorting out storage in the children’s bedrooms.

I’m looking forward to the help to be motivated as we just have too much stuff !

    1. DO NOT PUT OFF TO TOMORROW WHAT CAN/SHOULD BE DONE TODAY
    2. WRITE AND USE “TO DO LISTS”
    3. LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I ENTERED
    4. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
    5. WHEN DEALING WITH CLUTTER I WILL USE ‘Daisy1571’s idea of ‘WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS ITEM IF IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S ?’

The weather on Thursday changed quite drastically - overcast then absolutely bucketed down & guess what DH & I were doing? We were out on the Motorbike :rotfl: Fortunately we missed the major downpour but had to negotiate the rather deep puddles :( I managed to get a couple of swimsuits, tanking top & 2 pairs of men’s swim shorts :rotfl: & DH picked up a couple of tops. DSis managed to find a few bits on her trip into Lewisham. Dinner was cheeseburger, chips & baked beans.
Everything on my To Do lists is up to date :T - washing done, dried, folded & put away, urgent mending done, last of the holiday clothing bought & a small sm shop.

    Yesterday only managed

70 shredding of paperwork. I am going to count each time I empty the shredding box as 1 item.

Not at work today so am planning to decluttering much more today.

2 lots of 15 mins achieved yesterday

First one - as soon as i got home from work - was the dressing table from doom. 3 drawers not touched since we moved 5 years ago. No idea what was in it and no-one ever opens the drawers. I need to create a travel drawer as we have started holidays abroad again and I can never find the suntan lotion, plugs, towel clips etc. Turns out it was full of OH clothes and lots of old uniform from a job he left 3 years ago. Left a pile on the bed of suit trousers that should really be hung nicely in the wardrobe (he wears a suit about once every 2 years lol)and some jeans. The old uniform and a few other bits must go straight in the bin as I can't risk impersonators. So I gained 3 drawers! Now I have the travel drawer I need so when decluttering other areas and come across travel bits and bobs I can tidy them straight away :T

Second one - while I was cooking dinner I decluttered the cereal/snack cupboard. Lots of old food chucked out, snacks tidied into one basket. All good.

Villagelife reminded me, yesterday I also decluttered a pile of receipts....

Determined to keep on top of that one and not end up with 3 months worth of grocery receipts....

Great reading everyone’s progress as it keeps me focussed. Not much decluttering for me due to work but DH tidied shed and binned 1 bag of rubbish.
Dropped off dance costumes to charity. Wow what an amazing place over 11000 costumes and fancy dress. Shame they are looking for new premises without luck so far. Keeping my fingers crossed they can successfully relocate.

The online book buyers love academic books. I have sold a fair few of them on there. x
Ah, I won't be getting rid of many of them! They are a bit of a comfort blanket, plus still use most of them for writing/work purposes. My family would probably be mega concerned if I willingly got rid of books, would be more likely to declutter shoes and that doesn't often happen either!

2 bags ready for the charity shop today. Which is good as I have to go buy a couple of new things (clothes airer, in the sale and some bits for the youngest for school). Trying to do 1 in 1 out but it is hard. hard, hard. :)
  • Day 9 - DS2's old bike donated to a friend.
Day 10 - 2 chairs donated to the tip on the way to work.

Either this evening or tomorrow I will be tackling DS2s clothes as he seems to have skipped the age 7-8 bracket of clothes, so lots that we kept from DS1 can now go to charity. Mrs SJ has threatened to tackle DD's clothes (time will tell on this one). I am also adamant that I will make a start on the garage this weekend, or my wardrobe...or I may go wild and tackle both :D
