Afternoon MrsSD and fellow declutterers,
First of all, thank you MrsSD for my gold star at the beginning of last week. Yes, I feel like a small corner has been turned on the decluttering front. Our daughter likes the attic now, it's becoming her 2nd favourite room in the house, after her bedroom :-) hopefully she will help me to reduce further the remaining pile of stuff in this room now it's all in one place.
So this morning, I tackled the pantry first thing (around half 6 - I'm an early riser, always have been). It's an old style pantry so very dry in there and ideal for storing what is effectively a 'bunker' of food and beverages. My wife likes to have it well stocked, however as I am doing the cooking at the moment to help out with her anxiety and depression (BTW, she's not great at the moment on that front, emotions are a bit all over the place, but I suppose I was expecting this and ready as best I can for it) I thought it would be worthwhile to work out what we had in there and what we didn't have as well as it was a problem to move around in there. I have not made too many changes to the layout as it doesn't help with my wife's anxiety, but progress has been made: -
Disposed of: -
lasagne with best before date (BBE) of 2012
pulses and grains with BBE of 2013 (3 packs)
four cans of cider (BBE Jan 2019)
four bottles of lemonade (BBE Jan 2014)
four cans of beer (BBE Feb 2019)
apple juice carton (BBE Jan 2018)
4 wine carriers which are battered and damaged and needed throwing
There is a liquid theme to the disposals :-), because the paper recycling bin is stacked to the brim now.
Good news is is that I found five separate children's cake mixtures, and our daughter has took the 1st step on that front by making rocky road chocolate biscuits, and I have had a couple of pieces of it. More developments on that front are likely for later this week. Feel sluggish now and a bit over full with the rocky road :-) but at least I know now what is in our pantry now, we won't starve at all. We also have four large bottles of diet coke (relating to dominos purchases over the last year I think) which have gone flat, any ideas on how to make them fizzy again?
Stay safe everyone x

1. WRITE AND USE “TO DO LISTS” - MINIMUM 30 MINUTE BURSTS OF ACTIVITY AT LEAST TWICE EVERY DAY2. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT3. I WILL ENDEAVOUR TO BE NICE TO EVERYONE & TRY TO SEE THE FUNNY OR PECULIAR SIDE TO AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
4. DAY TO DAY DECLUTTERING WILL CONTINUE
Rained overnight Sunday but mainly dry Monday with some sunshine. My flurry of activity was washing, chopping, drying & bagging portions of green mustard & Chinese spring onions - all in the freezer. It took forever as there were a LOT of spring onions 😬 Started knitting scarf no.36. The other thing I did was to reach out - emails to 4 friends - 3 replied & they & their families are virus free. Also phoned my cousin, nice long chat & that side of the family are all fine. However her DH appears to have had the virus (40C temperature) but is now fully recovered 👏 So all in all we are counting ourselves very fortunate.
Dinner was hm lasagne.690 - 693 Kitchen recycling, 2 magazines, cardboard packaging - Recycled
694 Bag of kitchen detritus - Binned
Honourable intentions then Nicnak 😉 Great work on your decluttering 👏 By the way you only have 3 items to go to hit your target 😉Basketcase, all you did was leave out the + sign 😉. 9-5=2+3 😆
Nice to see you wort 👋 Thanks for posting 👏 - it is really encouraging to know the benefits of decluttering - so we all have something to look forward to 🥳 Must admit that I am of an age that I still enjoy sending Christmas cards 😉Definitely well organised boultdj 👏Lovely to see you leelad 👋 I have to say that your wife is lucky to have you and your daughter - I imagine it makes her less likely to spiral knowing that she has such a supportive husband & daughter. I did smile 😊 when I read that the attic is your daughter’s 2nd favourite room 🙂 Well done on the pantry tidy up 👏Good work villagelife 👏
