2020 - banish the clutter

I need to join if I may.
My house looks cluttered but when I look hard it's really mostly other peoples stuff. My late husband's and his mother's and father's, my mother's and my sons'.
In fact if all this were to disappear the house would be very empty. It's time for me to be strong, get rid and surround myself with stuff I have chosen for myself. (Not getting rid of the old brown furniture, I love that and it'll soon be back in fashion)
I will be helped by the fact that my DS2 has just bought a house and is gradually taking car loads away. Another load today. He also sorted a bin liner sized pile of old games to ebay or go to charity and half a bag of clothes/suits.
So that's 1/52 for meLove living in a village in the country side0 -
Morning all
I am delivering 7 bags to the charity shop this morning, two bags of rubbish ( probably taken to the tip when we take OH old spare bed pieces). I still have stuff under the spare room bed, so today's job is looking to re-house stuff if possible so the bed can go. You seem to start one job then make another. Still, it will be worth it once it's all done.
Sounds like everyone is getting a jump on 2020

Right - the big declutter will start today! Now that Christmas itself is over, I’ll have a better handle on which areas to attack first. I’m thinking clothes first (as they’re easiest) and then maybe the kitchen (long overdue).
Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas, and hugs and spoons to those that didn’t. Hang in there! XxEvery act of kindness, no matter how small, isn’t wasted ❤️

Morning All.
I did well yesterday while waiting for tea to cook. Couple of boxes of nice Christmas biscuits by door ready to go to foodbank. We have too many and I'm trying to get back on the straight and narrow after a few days of excess, so someone will enjoy them more than me. A surplus to requirements selection box of choc bars from DD, going back to work with me in January for people to help themself to in the communal kitchen. A Kylie CD I never listen to. I sorted a general house file I have in the kitchen, old leaflets, takeaway menus, receipts and school correspondence gone. I paid my December credit card bill which arrived yesterday (Merry Christmas!) and filed away. After tea, I transferred important info, birthdays to my 2020 calendar and the old one is gone.
Not sure what task it will be today, as long as progress is made somewhere, I'll be happy!

One large bag dropped at charity shop...
including a leather jacket, a crystal decanter (bought on eBay coz I wanted the drinking glasses that came with it) a vase OH thought might be worth something and has sat around for four years, and some very high heel shoes that I am unlikely to wear now we get the bus everywhere!
And gift aided too.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi all
Can I join please? I moved into flat about 2 years ago when I was pregnant so never seemed to unpack properly. I still have boxes that I haven't really unpacked, pictures still not framed and on the wall, shelves that haven't been up and drawers I have no idea what's in them.
I'd like to go for 52 in 52. Is there a specific bag size? Or just any bag filled with stuff to declutter.0 -
My husband is dropping some stuff off at the tip tomorrow. The house is really feeling a lot better.:)
I managed to do some unwanted decluttering too, I broke a glass and my favourite cup over Christmas and my husband broke a lamp yesterday.:rotfl:0 -

Popped a few more bits into charity bag as I'm off for a walk into town as soon as the washing machine has finished swishing, so I can drop a bag off. Some new with tags pyjamas that were Christmas present in wrong size, a dress that wasn't a good purchase for me, a gifted toiletries bag (don't need duplicate). Some more Christmas chocolates from DD that will go back to work with me are waiting ready to go. Several bags now gathered by front door. Various packaging in recycling bin.
All progress....

Helped by DS1 tidying up his room which was overdue, and with all the wrapping and associated debris we managed to fill the car to go down the tip, plus made a good start on the next load.
So that's 1/50.I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Smiling and waving and looking so fine0
