So applied for another current account for the wife. All gone through quickly and account granted on one go. I'll give it a week or for for the DD to transfer and do the switch. 2nd time lucky I hope.
We still got the wine code. Tried one bottle, not that nice to be honest. Vxman sorry you missed out but I doubt it's really £180 worth, half that at a push.0 -
vacheron said:Is anyone else having any luck appying at present? I have filled in the first page (name / contact details) but when I press "continue" it just spins a virgin "m" animation saying "submitting" and then nothing happens when it should move on to the next of 3 pages.
I've tried from a PC (using edge and chrome) from my mobile phone and all do exactly the same thing, both last night and this morning.
It turned out that for some reason it wasn't happy with my birth year. However if I put one year later (making me 1 year younger) the form would then happily submit the data and allow me to move to the second page. So I proceeded with the incorrect date, then once when all the application pages were complete I went to "review" and then changed the year on the first page back to my actual birth year and it submitted the application (which was immediately accepted).
I confirmed this worked on 2 different PC's in 2 different locations with different OS, browser, and IP addresses, (and also on a smartphone over 4g), so nothing to do with my setup.
Bizzarre!

• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.

Account transferred on 23/12 and wine arrived on 8/1 so despite all the bank holidays and parcel disruption it was still pretty quick.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Finally got my wine code today for a switch that completed 10 days before Christmas.
Had to contact them to chase it. And contacting them was a pain, instant messaging was slow, they didn't know the answer but would find out, but told me they couldn't tell me when they did find out, they wanted me to instant message again, repeatedly, for a day or so, to ask if they had found out yet, so I did.
And, after some time, they hadn't found out. So I requested they message me when they knew as me starting up instant messenger randomly, on the off-chance they knew the answer, seemed ridiculous.
They insisted they couldn't as it wasn't secure, so I suggested they use secure messaging - as, surely, that was secure. To which they replied sorry that's a 'different team' and they don't work with them. After I made a fuss they offered me a call-back, which did happen, though not at the time they promised, and by then they did have an answer.
The answer they gave in the end - and make of it what you will - was that because I'd finished the application by phone, having started online, their system hadn't got me down for the offer. Which seems odd as I think, from this thread, that a lot of people had to phone to complete the switch and I assume they got the offer.
Anyway, code now received, and wine ordered. Not impressed with Virgin Money's communication abilities though!0 -

Can somebody please confirm that Virgin Money will pay out if you open a second current account with the 2.02% interest rate? Debating on whether it's worth the risk or not, so will see what others have experienced.

I appreciate your feedback, @ryan92 - was a savings account opened for each current account you opened?
