Back to the topic of the Virgin Money Current account:

I opened my account 3 June and paid in 3 amounts, total £1k. The cleared balance shows correctly as £1000, but there are still no transactions showing in the account or in the timeline.

    Is this normal?
    Normal for Virgin Money.

    Not normal for other banks.

That was quick and painless to set up. 3 days ago the application and ID submitted, letter received today, account up and running with money in by the time I switched from one app to theirs.

Easy to log in, easy to use app, first impressions are it's up there with my main account provider.

I've never had any issues with my accounts held with them over the years.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

On reflection CoP isn't the answer but it's not necessarily wrong as it may prevent some things going wrong, I just wish the implementation was better.
As fraud prevention it's better than it was, if someone is using a different name to the one they are using for their bank account then it's clear indication of fraud. This will cause fraudsters to up their game, to open an account in that name they'll have to commit identity fraud which is going to be much easier to detect (and more of a legal risk) than telling people a different name.
It also makes being a money mule much less attractive, if not only are you providing a bank account but you're also letting the person use your name and identity.
But the main advantage is to catch mistakes, I find it really stressful setting up a new payee because if you make a mistake then you could end up having to chase for months to get the money back.

You click the 3 dots on the right to see the menu where you can change to paperless

I used online chat in Virgin app yesterday. Rep didn't seem to understand my query at first, telling me I 'only had 3 transactions'. I knew that - but why were none of those 3 showing! He finally understood, said 'we've been having some issues recently' but he would 'refresh' and transactions should appear. Suggested I wait 10 mins. I checked about an hour later, and again this morning. Still no transactions showing on that account.

Doesn't exactly inspire me with confidence.

I opened my account over four weeks ago. Sent a letter of complaint regarding their shambles three weeks ago. Only received an acknowledgement of my complaint last week, and still waiting for them to resolve my issue by unblocking my account

How many accounts can be opened?  Is it just the one personal (+ 1 joint) or more than?  Only cos I thought I read somewhere about someone opening more than one, unless they were either referring to a joint account or the tagged on savings account @ 1 / 0.5%.

I and a few others have three sole current accounts. Would love to know if anyone has opened more?
