Cheers.  And is it a soft or hard credit check?  If its soft then worth getting as many as it'll allow.  Obviously not all at once :)

    Hard check for each account.
I stuck at two as the website and app started to not play nicely, OH has two also.
I've toyed with the idea of a third, would make it a nice round £100 a year for not doing much but don't want to mess up the others in doing so so decided for the time being to stick at two.

Back to the topic of the Virgin Money Current account:

I opened my account 3 June and paid in 3 amounts, total £1k. The cleared balance shows correctly as £1000, but there are still no transactions showing in the account or in the timeline.

    Is this normal?

    Normal for Virgin Money.

    Not normal for other banks.

I used online chat in Virgin app yesterday. Rep didn't seem to understand my query at first, telling me I 'only had 3 transactions'. I knew that - but why were none of those 3 showing! He finally understood, said 'we've been having some issues recently' but he would 'refresh' and transactions should appear. Suggested I wait 10 mins. I checked about an hour later, and again this morning. Still no transactions showing on that account.

Doesn't exactly inspire me with confidence.

To add insult to injury, first thing this morning I received email from Virgin Money telling me how clever their app is and how it will help me top up my savings and sort out my spending. So, I set up a payee on my account and made a small transfer, which arrived immediately. However, my account still shows no transactions - none of the 3 in or 1 out. Pretty poor performance.

My account is being reported on Credit Karma as Yorkshire Bank. I am glad that I have been following this thread so it has not come as a surprise.

So do those who have thousands of posts, no doubt. Without feeling the need to abandon their account because of a problem with their own post count.
Can we now return to the subject of the thread please. Sorry to all that I have contributed to this off-topic discussion 😔
Absolutely. Someone mentioned a particular member, I said what I thought, end of. You're the one who carried it on, as am I now. Finished. Finito. Done and dusted. End of.

    To help bring it back.

Applied for my account on 04/06
    Letter received 08/06
    Account up and running 08/06
    Debit card received 11/06
    PIN received 12/06

Have transferred in several times, set up savings pots in the linked account, moved money around the linked account, set up goals, everything works as expected.  Works well as a secondary account.

I do like them and have had various savings accounts over the years and tends to be my go to place when looking for a new account.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

Is this correct 2% interest on the main account? Is this going to dissapear suddenly? Seems very high compared to the savings accounts I have currently.
It is 2%, they're not saying that is reducing but have confirmed the linked savings is going to 0.50%

Yes, but note it is variable so may be subject to reduction when VM have decided they have enough customer deposits and don't need to sustain such a high rate to maintain consumer interest.

So is the consensus here that this account is more trouble than it's worth? I was interested mainly because of the tied instant savings account but scrolling through these pages I see mostly complaints. I've used Virgin before for savings accounts and not had issues, is the cause of current account troubles related to the merger?

I would definitely use it to put £1K into it whilst they are paying 2% AER. And that's it then. I am not tempted by the savings account that comes with it, for as long as I can get over twice the AER in other savings accounts. I would also not be tempted to use it as my 'main' current account as they don't pay any cashback, and as I don't like their strange way of showing, or not showing, transactions in a timely manner. As soon as the interest rate is no longer competitive, I'll close or switch in a jiffy.
