The only bank account I've ever had a problem opening. Took 15 minutes to go through the application. Then they said they needed further info, so had 4 further questions like how long I'd had my credit card, when I last got a loan. Then they said they were unable to verify my information, so would send me a code  by post to enable me to continue my application. !!!!!!?! I have lived at the same address for 20+ years and worked at the same place 30+ years! Never had a problem with any other bank or around 200 bookies and casinos!😂

I think the problem with pin and card arriving on the same day is because the Royal Mail is not delivering every day. Mind you it has not happened to me and my accounts are clearly showing with the correct money also showing. Not trying to sound pompous just want to reassure posters not to be put off by some posters bad experiences.
I'd second that as I've been fortunate to have no problems (so far) with the two current accounts that I opened. However I am unsure about whether to try for a third account and wonder how long it will be before Virgin crack down and update their terms and conditions.
I’ve opened 3, managed to put £1000 in each of them thus far no problems

I think I've run through just about every problem that people have mentioned but have now at last managed to get the accounts open and the full amount transferred.

I'm not sure how true this is, but the person I was talking to on the online chat (when I found that the balance had gone to zero) believed that the issue for my account being frozen and the money returned could be due to Virgin not receiving the identification documents they had requested. When I said that I had actually uploaded them over a week ago he asked what was the file format used, and when I replied .jpg he said that could have been the problem as he had heard that it was best to upload .pdf type.

I  don't know whether it was a coincidence or not, but I rescanned the images in that format and uploaded them and now a couple of days later my account is unfrozen. Though I think it possibly might have nothing to do with that, but was due to the fact that I got a quicker internet connection this time and so I didn't have to reclick the "I'm a real person tick box" that came up umpteen times last time as my connection was slow.

Is there anyone out there who has uploaded jpg files and has successfully had their accounts opened and kept open for more than a few days?

After doing the drag and drop I've had two more emails asking for the same documents, then one asking for council tax bill.  There's not an option on the drag and drop site to select proof of address so, again, I used the driving licence / passport option and just added in the bill.  Now radio silence!

A text came through about  20 minutes ago which led me into creating three different codes and finally getting logged in!  Here's a tip...if you get a text there'll also be an email!  I proceeded on my phone, it would have been much easier on my laptop.
Hey ho, it's done.  Not the easiest though not as difficult as HSBC which took me four months to fully open, three visits to the only branch in Scotland and two letters of complaint.  I closed that a day after compensation hit the account!

Not sure I'll try to open any more with Virgin / Clydesale / Yorkshire - my next move is a large gin with a small tonic.

My survey was from Yorkshire Bank
When Virgin Money was B you picked Yorkshire or Clydesdale as your home branch network - 05 or 82 identified which. They have partially separate but identical platforms - I guess a legacy of formerly being two unconnected banks owned by NAB.

I never had a B, and I never had an account or CC with Clydesdale Bank. I did, however, have a current account with Yorkshire Bank, and it was my YB password that they wanted me to use at some stage in the process  (without telling me that this is what they wanted). I also have Virgin Regular Savers.

They seem to have assigned me to Clydesdale Bank now, as that's who I got my survey questionnaire from.

I made a deposit last night, which almost immediately updated the cleared balance in my Virgin account. It also showed in the timeline, and as a transaction with a little clock next to it. Today, the cleared balance still shows the correct amount, but last night's transaction has vanished from the timeline, and from the account.

There's no rhyme or reason to how they are working.

    I've just stuck £1000 in - that'll do I think.
