Thanks for this weeks thread DNMS.
Hope everyone is well. Its been a school inset day today so I've not had chance to catch up properly yet.
In the way of small things..
I claimed a cafe ner0 voucher from quidco for a little bonus rather then the cashback.
I claimed cashback from dh's work perks site (should be £43 back into our bank account by the end of the week)
I reached £25 on 1poll so I've requested a payout
I claimed a £5 amzn voucher from rm surveys (already spent this though! dh wanted to buy me a perfume for xmas and it was £8 - £21 cheaper on amzn so I've ordered it - cost £23 instead of £44 in the perfume shop/superdrug/boot or £29 in debenhams)
I've ordered 4 dvds from cex 50p each plus £1.50 each for delivery - much cheaper then getting them from amzn and we had cex vouchers from selling unwanted items anyway (one each for the kids xmas boxes and one each for new years eve)
I've ordered coffee pods (compostable ones now yay! ) from john lewis for dh, spent £50 so free delivery, got £1.50 cashback through his work and it means we won't have the 1hr and a half drive /fuel spend to get into the city too. These will keep him going for months!
Played badminton with the kids and booked a non peak slot as they were home so we paid a little less then usual.
The kids had a budget of £10 for mine and dh's xmas gift (its the first year they've bought for us) but I was able to point out some glasses that dh would love which came in under their budget which we will get far more use out of then the box of chocolates they were going to get us. so I saved them £6!Happy kids
Put a beef stew into the slowcooker this morning as I knew I wouldn't fancy cooking tonight
Made families lunches for tomorrow
Checked banking
Washed a load on the quick 30 degree wash and hung on the airer (after emptying the dried washing from it!)
I think thats about it, I've done more then I'd thought in the way of small things!
Take care all. Hopefully I'll get back on tomorrow but ds has hospital in the morning and I've got the drs in the afternoon :eek:Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Hi all, thanks for the new thread!
A quiet, no spend day today. Yay! Used pork chops from the freezer for tea, and I'm determined to empty a bit before Christmas. I don't need any food shopping (apart from milk tomorrow) so shout happily keep going well into next week.
I need to check one poll, I thought you had to wait til £40 to cash out? Has this changed 1Luckylady? I think I can cash out if this is the case!
Off to check now!mortgage £800 overpayment 2022. £600/£2400 2023 🙂 savings £1853/£1800 😊0 -

Thanks for thread.
Beautiful NSD and car share day.
All ready for a club run - and then I fall over a kerb, scrape my face and ear - not too bad but a bit bad.
Have gone to bed and will reestimate damage in the morning. Will be fun to do cover work with a bit of a face on!Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

ditty hope there is not too much damage done
DNMS thanks for the start
Lyneee 1poll has changed to £25 but if you were still in a £40 payout cycle and haven’t claimed you still have to get to £40 before payout but it’ll be £25 next time
I’m off to the big smoke today for a short meeting so limited list but here goes anyway:
Take water bottle and drinks with me
DH will drop me at station and pick me up to save horrendous car park charges
Order what I think will be last of Christmas gifts online
Cheapo porridge for breakfast all round
Start shopping list for later in the week
Think about alternatives to party bags. Puzzle books maybe?! Did reading books previously. No plastic tat here.
Check banking
DH our to gig tonight, ticket a gift from a lovely friend and another friend driving so should be a reasonable night
Have a good day all. Purps.0 -
Morning
feeling smug this morning as have 2 defrosted freezers
amazing how much space there is when they're not overrun with ice!
This morning I have a meeting with work about the complaint I raised  Hope it goes relatively well....
Other than that:
[STRIKE]* load of washing in the machine, double spin and I might hang out. Need to check the forecast[/STRIKE]
* all meals from stores
* sewing, sewing, sewing!
[STRIKE]* TOMM[/STRIKE]
* all meals from stores - trying to make a real dent on the freezer things! Might do a prawn stirfry...
* wrap presents - still outstanding
Ok that's all! Have a great dayDF as at 30/12/16

All the best with your meeting determined! And ditto your meeting PF!
I got all my washing dried!! The loads that went out first were very nearly dry by the time I brought them in - just needed 20 minutes in the tumble dryer to finish them off. The bedding (which didn't go out until after lunch) has been round the radiator over night and is just about dry, even though the heating goes off at 9pm and doesn't come on again until 5am. It'll probably go into the tumble dryer for 20 minutes as well, just to be sure.
I've just set some stock away to boil for an hour or so, and I'll use it for some chunky chicken soup for my meal tonight. Can't beat it on a cold night - chunks of potato, swede, onion, chicken, and anything else I find lurking in the fridge, with some bread to dunk in it. And I'll make enough to have for lunch tomorrow too. Cheap and healthy - what's not to love!!
Off to the gym at 9:30, then work at 11:30. One of my colleagues is really interested in joining the gym, so I'll pick up a 'free session' voucher for her while I'm there. When I get back I'll have a coffee and some of the apple upside down cake I made yesterday. It really is rather nice, even though I do say it myself.
Keep on keeping warm. xxNo longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
Morning folks!
I'm feeling far more normal today (although not quite raring to go). Managed to sleep until 7.45 this morning (hooray!).
Today we are going to the smaller of our two nearby cities to do some Christmas shopping. We normally get it all done around the end of October but we couldn't this year because of my being ill. I can't say that I'm enjoying the last minute rush!
Today's list:
:heartpuls B/D from stores - done
:heartpuls Cheap lunch out. Am not at Foxgloves' level of taking a picnic - especially not in this weather! - done
:heartpuls Put curry into sc for when we get back - done
:heartpuls Tidy up garden if light enough - nope!
:heartpuls Put away neverending washing - done
:heartpuls New dehumidifer chugging away. I have noticed that the old one that is now downstairs barely clicks on since the new one arrived (on the landing). It is extracting a 2l container full PER DAY on average!! (Although some washing is drying indoors... but still!) - done
:heartpuls Write Christmas cards to neighbours
Right, I'm going to check the bird feeders to see if my squirrel repair has worked. I'll soon know if not as there'll be no peanuts left
Excellent. Several birds on and around the feeder and not a squirrel in sight
Have a good one all

Morning all,
Its day 2 of my weird out of routine week (and I think you all know how much I like routine!)
Dnms, I hope the meeting goes well for you.
Ditty, hope you're feeling ok
Pf, I used to give little colouring books instead of party bags when mine were little - I think it was either The Range or The Works that had sets of them
Todays list
* porridge for all our breakfasts - healthy and cheap! :A
* ds2 to hospital for his routine 6 monthly appointment, his tsh levels are higher then they should be again so they're increasing his dosage and we'll have to go back in 6-8weeks for repeat bloods. - nice early appointment though so didn't take snacks/drinks with us as we'd already had breakfast :A
* popped into co-op on the way back to pick up bread and milk - rather then going out for a bigger shop today as I can make do with everything else. :A
Still to do
* check banking/update spreadsheet :A
* washed a load on the quick 30 degree load before I went out so that will need hanging on the heated airer, no chance of hanging out today as its very wet (and not even light yet!) :A
* make families lunches for tomorrow :A
* go to the drs for myself - I made the appointment last week when feeling really rough (its been one thing after another since October) but I've been ok since Friday so I thought about cancelling but I've decided to go and see what they say. Hopefully will help me get back into a better sleeping routine too as I think I managed about 3hrs again last night - once my brain starts ticking... :A
* maybe make a leek and potato soup with some chicken stock I have in the fridge :A
* iron dh's work shirts :A
* update freezer list as my dad has put some food in my freezer as his was full ready for xmas
Ok that's it for now.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.
