Another in my occasional posts analysing the saving stats going all the way back to the start of the thread in 2012:
Nil-Savers (people who register but drop out before saving anything): total = 309 (feel sorry for SlowlyFading)
2014= 45, 2015= 53, 2016 = 46, 2017 = 41, 2018= 32, 2019= 42, 2020(so far)= 51.
Repeat Nil-savers (done it more than once!) = 13, shocking ;-)
Next time: proportion of first-time savers each year who report savings for the full 12 months.Save 12k in 2013-2014-2015-2016-2017-2018-2019-2020-2021-2022 - then early-retired.12 -

geoffers4 - that repeat offender figure is really shocking. I always think people should bookmark (formerly subscribe) to the threads they participate in but maybe it should be a nudge when slowlyfading tells them their number, as lots of people do this as their first savings challenge, I think, and probably don't know how the forum works in terms of navigating aroundSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

geoffers4:
Seeing statistic is sometimes eye-opener. I remember I wanted to register and do some challenges here last year but I also knew I will not be committed. So, I joined recently, when I felt ready.
I wonder how many others did their own challenges while they read comments from the forum. Without any registration.

#141 - have made £800 savings for February.. Hopefully will be able to add more soon. fingers crossed!

#42 reporting a nice round £684 for February, just about nudging me over 10% of my annual target. Form submitted!
A little behind where I should be, but more hopeful of hitting my target now as I have recently had my job role re-graded, with a pay rise due from next month, backdated to January 1st, so barring any disasters hopefully a bumper March to get back on track!Save £12k in 2020 #42 £12,551.25 / £14,000 89.65%3 -
Will be declaring on thurs, doubtful this month will be much to write home about. Booked a holiday and awaiting Mot repairs bill. It’s about damage limitation this month, should be able to get back on track in March with work bonus landing. Re the drop out rate I’m a newbie who started this year. Fully committed to seeing the challenge through. I can only imagine for some people it sounds great in theory but the practicalities of saving don’t follow through for whatever reason. Be good manners though to pop on and ask to be removed from the challenge3

Well I found a job nice and quick and have finished my first week. It's not as much as I was earning so the year will start slower than I hoped, but it keeps me in this thread
I've also amended and resubmitted my tax return for 18/19 as I made an omission and I know my new job will be taxed on a BR code so there should be a tax rebate at some point after April.
£355.66 so far in February (£200 HTB, £100 NW, £50 Gov and £5.66 interest)
£355.50 submitted for January (£200 HTB, £100 NW, £50 Gov and £5.50 interest)
