Right then...my list is updated...wording for number 20 needs a bit of refining!...but I wanted the list sort-of-done for the New Year!
1. Lose 20 pounds (which will bring me to my own target of being a 'normal' weight...down from obese iii)...edit....a few pounds were 'added' over Christmas...the weight loss starts NOW!
2. Make 20 donations to charity
3. Write 20 letters (not eMails….handwritten...some older relatives like to get a 'real' letter)
4. Make 20 crafted items (embroidered cards...knitted hats/bags et.c)
5. Drink 20 glasses of water a week (not coffee/tea...not fizz...just good old, plain water....20 glasses a week is around 3 a day....coffee et.c will still be drunk, but in addition to the water, hoping to up my fluid intake)
6. Read 20 fiction books...new-to-me ones not rereading of old favourites....books and kindle will count
7. Read 20 non -fiction books...including some that have been on my bookshelf for some time!
8. Put 20 coins a week into my piggy bank.
9. Tell myself 20 times that I am beautiful! (Serious body issues here!!!)
10. Linked to number 9...I have been given the word 'beautiful' as my word for the year in Bible Journaling...I will journal 20 pages in my Bible on this word.
11. Donate/Give away 20 books (limited bookshelf space...and I suspect new books will be given for Christmas...this will clear up space!...20 over a year is less than 2 a month!)...edit to add...yes, new books DID appear and will be read as part of my challenge!
12. I will write 20 thankyou letters to companies - it is so easy to complain...if people do a good job they deserve praise!...emails will count...letters are better!
13.I will watch 20 'new' programmes on TV.....that are new to me...I tend to watch the same old stuff.....I will try some new things...maybe only one episode but it will give me a chance to see what the fuss is with some shows!
14. I will wear jewellery 20 times (I have a lovely little box with earrings and necklaces et.c...and I so rarely wear them...I sort of think I'll keep them for 'special' days...well, every day is special!!!
15. I will do 20x20 minutes of study...various topics...including the free OU modules.
16. I will accept help from people 20 times with my disabilities...I am a right little tinker about overdoing things because I want to 'do it myself'...which is commendable, but I also need to accept my limitations!
17. I will write 20 pages (minimum!) ...I would love to commit to more, but need to be realistic...and maybe getting 20 done will inspire me to do over this! ( I have 2 books I am working on...one is non-fiction...almost finished...last chapter or so, and then need to do the reworking/rewrite of a few earlier bits, this is a personal project...the other is more exciting really...I have a novel in me.....more than one...and this one is telling me it wants to be written! something tells me that once I get going I will do rather more than 20 pages of this!!!)
18. I will write 20 pages with Mum...she is writing her life story...she dictates to me in German, I type it out for her on the laptop...we didn't get much done over the past few months!
19. Remove all size 20 (and larger) items from my wardrobe...I am NEVER going to fit into them again!...not sure if I have 20 items in the wardrobe...but will count those already in the charity bag! (charity shop was closed over Christmas so I haven't donated them yet!
20. Awaiting inspiration...I like the idea of Guide Badges!0 -

Mum is ‘doing’ guide badges as one of hers. I already feel the start of my 20 21s :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Being a huge fan of spreadsheets I have a simple sheet set up for recording what and date for each but also a beautiful pink notebook for a more diary approach :-)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Guide badges contain all sorts of challenges. You can get the current badge books for the various sections, or finding the badge books for years gone by isn't that hard online either. Finding the correct badges to award yourself for those might br a little more difficult
It should be fun. Much easier to do though if you are a current leader!NST January Turtles number 251 -
I really love this idea and if you don't mind I would like to join and have made a list
I'm terrible at New Years Resolutions but learned a few years ago that if I do a New Year's "to-do" list I was much more successful! So this can be my 2020 New Year's List.
1) Save 20x £20 notes
2) Save every 20p piece
3) Listen to 20 Audio books
4) Read 20 new-to-me books
5) At least 20 Vegetarian/ Vegan days a month
6) No alcohol for 20 days a month
7) Learn 20 new recipes
8) Visit 20 places in my city I haven't been before
9) Visit 20 places outside my city
10) Walk an extra 20 minutes everyday (this is so I exclude my commute from my step count)
11) Donate to charity 20 times
12) Earn £20 a month in surveys
13) Spend 20 days with family, excluding Christmas (I live away so normally only get a weekend with them every 6 weeks)
14) Go to 20 events e.g concerts, exhibitions, festivals
15) Play 20 board games/ puzzles
16) Hand-make 20 items e.g knitting a scarf/ socks, making birthday cards
17) Get rid of 20 items a month
18) Spend 20 minutes a day reflecting
19) Invest 20 minutes a day to my development
20) Cuddle/ play with the cat for 20 minutes a day
My only "don't/no" item on the list is no alcohol for 20 days a month - I find it much easier to meet my targets when they're do's rather than don'ts.
Happy new year everyone and good luck with your 20 20sSave £12k in 2022 = £3705.97/ £7,500 (49%)
Save £12k in 2021 #76 = £11,857.21/ £10,000 (118%)1 -

okay...I am clearly not going to earn my 'Search the Internet' badge!
Is there a website that lists the requirements for various badges?
Ideally I'd like the 'old' badges...I was a Guide back in the 70s....I did find one site that listed the old badges...and a few that will sell you the badges...but nowhere to tell me the tasks.
Just thinking of it takes me back...I was an enthusiastic Girl Guide...and they were always SO inclusive (I have a number of disabilities)...I left a few years earlier than I'd have liked...we moved around a lot, Mum gave up counting after 20 moves in 26 years!...even moving to a different country didn't stop us Guiding/Scouting...eventually we managed to move out of a Guiding area, and I was also advanced a year at school....I needed all my efforts to keep up with the older girls and never registered as a lone guide as I'd hoped....something I sort of regret 40 odd years later!1 -
