You are absolutely right - it is the small steps which do amount to a lot overtime.
Good luck to you! I think you will do it!
I have a notebook where I write down my debt totals for the coming months so I can see the figures decreasing. I love to strike through a month when it’s over. It’s majorly wishing my life away but I do find it helps with motivation.Store card £140 £117 - Store card £150 - Overdraft £200 - PayPal £364 - Loan 1 £5052 - Loan 2 £1733 - Credit card £2890 - Car hire purchase £3200 - Savings £0.1 -
Goodness that is quite a saga but you now seem to be in control after the last LBM. None of us are perfect so best just learn the lessons and move on. I am glad you successfully claimed against a PDL company. They really are vultures.
As I am sure you are aware now we never recommend consolidation of debts on here or borrowing from friends or family. It usually just delays the inevitable. You are doing a good job of paying your friend back now.
You say you have come to payment plan agreements with all your creditors. Have they frozen the interest?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. thanks both, (did try to do a multi quote thing but its baffled me!) it really has suprised me that just a few peoples words or encouragement has made me feel better and even mroe determined, i am one of those people that really hates to disappoint anyone (part of the reson i am in this mess.......if i had just told my dad at the start of my issues i have no doubt he would have helped and the spiral would never have begun but i was so scared to disappoint him i just panicked into borrowing more).1

i have a spreadsheet that tracks monthly paid off and remaining amount, date due to be cleared and percentages paid so i'm the same as you, wishing my life away waiting for dates to come .....enthusiasticsaver wrote: »Goodness that is quite a saga but you now seem to be in control after the last LBM. all but one of the creditors froze the interest, because i made unaffordability complaints some have also removed the interest so that has helped and the one which didnt reached the max interest they can charge so i know nothing will go up now only down.
(figured out the multiqoute thing now by mistake......phew learning new things all the time on here haha)1 -
Good luck! It sounds like you have been under debt stress for a long time and the kind of debts that are REALLY stressful. It also sounds like you are really determined and I’m sure you can do it

A good few years back, i also got into the pay day loan spiral and it nearly ruined me completely to be honest. Like you, pay day came, and all the money went to payday loan repayments. Some of my darkest days, so i really do understand. However, with the help of this site you can dig yourself out of this. Just know, you will have to make sacrifices, you will have to cut things that you really dont want to, but the minute you start feeling back in control your whole outlook will change, because being debt free will become your biggest priority. My debt free journey, diary and all! what can be described as a successfull low spending weekend. List in hand a weekly shop including some thermal socks was acheived for less than £25 and also included a large bag of cat biscuits without anything being forgotten.........i hope!
i have some bits in the cupboard (well soups) that probably do need using up so i'm very much hoping to have a very little shop next weekend that will counter balance my works christamas party which will be the very last thing i go to in order to keep up appearances, luckily i should be on track to go to that and still have some money left over before pay day a week friday so its not too bad.
Have some diary catching up to do today as i'm not a huge fan of spending my weekends staring at screens, have over £100 of my christmas budget left with some some small silly gifts and some photos to print off left to go (cant wait until its all over (yes i am a total grinch!))....lets see if this week goes to plan.
have a good one to any readers!2 -
morning all
wet and windy one with me today, meh.
on the good news front i just checked my bank balance and all bills have been paid and i have £200 left over (unfortunatley some of this will have to be used for the works do). thinking back to this point last year i think i had about £40..........and two weeks to pay day so small improvement (banked into the "yipee" pot).
i've also cashed out again on PA and should have £11 ish in my paypal when thats gone through which i'm think i'll over pay onto the current targeted loan, this should mean that i can pay that off quicker to free up the £20/month onto another debt which will start the snowball effect sooner.
any spare funds i have left this month i'm going to put into my emergency fund, having addressed my issues (finally) the worst thing i can think of is to have something go wrong and have to borrow again.
technically today should be a NSD....ok i did have to pick up milk for work but i reimbursed myself out of the kitty straight away and had to get petrol but thats a requirement so i'm not going to count it ..........
keep smiling everyone, have a good day2 -
Sounds like you are in a good place, well done on the small wins!My debt free journey, diary and all! New Life Pending :beer:1
