  • Well this is all a bit arbitrary really now. As my car won't start and it will have to sit there opposite her house until it's being towed to the garage on Thursday. So even if she asks me to move it I can't. So I guess it's technically abandoned now, but it's being fixed for Friday.
The irony was that over the weekend she parked opposite someone else's driveway, so I guess she's just a pain in the buttocks and I shall have fun winding her up.
To the person who said they wouldn't like to live next to me, I'd agree too. I wouldn't want to live next to me either. I'm a bit of a pain in the butt. I've got two dogs that bark, a kid that shouts (he has a disability but still) teenagers and I'm a bit of a hippy and have lots of crazy crap in my front garden. I'm nice, but eccentric and sometimes when you live in a posh area people don't like individuals like me.

Did you keep the note she put on your car? If she parks as she complained about put her note on her car.

    That was me :)

    I rest my case!
  • Hi we have just had new neighbours move into our area. There's a bit of an unwritten rule that everyone abides by with regards to parking. There is space for 3 cars that happen to be opposite this new neighbours driveway. I park in one of these 3 spaces. Yesterday I went to my car and a lady was putting a note on my car windscreen. She asked if it was my car and I said "yes" where by she told me that from now on I couldn't park there as she apparently couldn't get out of her driveway. I tried to explain that if I didn't park there then someone else would and that when her new house was unoccupied the neighbour had parked his massive truck in the drive and managed to get out easily. Anyway we had a bit of a discussion as she was quite rude. Anyway today, I was parked in my usual spot and one of her cars decided to occupy another spot. Fair enough, I came back and the idiot had moved forward and taken both car parking spaces. They have a driveway for 2 cars.
I'm unsure as to how to go about this. There is literally no where for me to park if she takes this course of action regulaly and I certainly don't want to fall out with a neighbour over something so stupid. I don't like notes being sent as I personally find them pretty spineless and can be seen as aggressive. I really don't want to fall out with her over this, it's a harmonious road where everyone gets on. However, if she is going to be a idiot then what can I do. I'm happy to go into parking wars with her if she wants but I'd rather not, as it's a bit petty.

I assume your new neighbours are young, they don’t appear to be very considerate, next time you take up both bays but inform your other neighbours you will move your car for them

Would you describe yourself as, 'zany'?

Sounds like chip on shoulder to me. Truly posh people are usually pretty understanding about eccentricity, but nobody really finds self-conscious and deliberate ‘quirkiness’ cute in a grown adult.

There’s no reason to think your neighbour has any issue with you other than the parking, and on that you are both equally in the wrong!

It looks like you both deserve each other.

God no! I'm not Timmy Mallet. I think I'd describe myself as artistic, but with bad taste. I'm the front door that is blue, but I can't just have a blue door, it also has to have clouds on it.
I own a lot of pairs of Doc Martens, even a pair on teenage mutant ninja turtle ones
The neighbours are older, I'm mid 30s. They're what I would consider self made, social climbers. I'm more of a came from wealthy stock, but pretend I'm not. I listen to an awful lot of Radio 4 and say cheerio when I'm saying goodbye. Clash of cultures. I'm in quite a wealthy area well, wealthy for the north and I'm a barmaid on minimum wage in a council house.
I think it was just her rudeness at the beginning, got my back up. If she had been more polite, I would be more than happy to accommodate her. However, she didn't seem to want to be reasonable so how can you expect anyone else to be.
Anyhoo, this has become quite a funny little thread, and whilst there hasn't been any real advice it has certainly made me aware there are a lot of people who really take parking seriously (this is not a bad thing, I just didn't realise it offended people so much). If I see her I will definitely have a chat, but if she's going to shout and bawl at me again then she'll just have to put up with my parking where she doesn't like it.
