Hi allHope everyone is well#142 here. Decided to do a sweep of current account so managed to add another £70.32 OP. Bringing June total OP to £561.88.
Happy with progress to date. Still a long way to go though as have 79% of mortgage balance to pay off. Just keep reminding myself every little bit helps towards the ultimate goalOriginal Mortgage (August 2017): £105,000 - 20 year term
Current Balance: £71,000.004 -
Hi All,
I was part of the MFW family in one of the earlier years (about 2005 - 2007). The support and encouragement from you all allowed me to pay a substantial amount of my mortgage and I invested in a small business and made some lifestyle improvements... Im back again to do much the same. In recent years, I got divorced, changed job and bought a more expensive house. My current mortgage was taken out in August 2019. Ive made some small overpayments since then but will start with the figures as they are today. I would be grateful to be allowed to join this group and be given a MFW number once again.
My mortgage company will only reduce my mortgage term for small overpayments so I will need to track total overpayments as opposed to the reduction in the balance.
Current balance on 20/6/20 - £232,554
Overpayment target for remainder 2020 is £1000. (I know its small, I need to start with baby steps).
And Ive made my first overpayment to be included of £35 todayThat a total of £35 for June.
Also, I can't remember or find how to write an email signature so please let me know.

Hi Julicorn
Can I please change my target to £6000 rather than £7000 please. Having been given quotes for household improvements needed I will now need to place more focus to mycmy savings pot for a period of time.
Thank youOriginal Mortgage (August 2017): £105,000 - 20 year term

I hope everyone is keeping well.
Whilst I have only just re-joined this challenge, I have been active in my efforts to keep my finances in order for a number of years. The focus has shifted for me depending on life circumstances but the goal has always been to reduce my liabilities as much as possible and at the same time improve the quality of life for me and my family.
I previously mentioned that I got divorced in 2018 and this process drained a lot of cash (amongst other things) and I had to bounce back and start life again. I have a small buy to let business (2 properties) and my medium term plan is to grow this business and leave my employment (which I hate!!), so that I can be more free to do the things in life that I am passionate about....Raise my children, play with my dogs, training (Im obsessed) and cooking (You are what you eat).
For me, I find that by focusing on the things I love the most in life it is easier for me to achieve my financial goals because aside from the fact they make me happy, they are usually the cheaper option. I run to work everyday (9 miles) and I have invested in a bike (for the days I need to move a bit faster). This doesn't allow me to ditch the car but it does help me feel good and saves me about £100 a month in fuel, not to mention the environmental impact. My children run and cycle with me at weekends and that means Im not forking out cash entertaining them (Just a pair of trainers and a rain coat). Im also transitioning to a plant based diet. I think (time will tell) that it will be cheaper to eat this way as it requires a lot more homemade cooking not to mention the proposed health benefits. I would love to hear from you all what things you are doing to support your MF journey - be warned...I might steal your ideas6 -
No 83 here its been a tough old few months for us all we have been lucky to be able to continue to chip away at our mortgage which we are so very grateful for.
Aprils over payment was £356.68
Mays overpayment was £356.69
Junes over payment was £660.00
Thank you5 -
#131 checking in with a June OP total of £685.69
Thank you!1 -
#61 with an additional £600 for June bring June total to £1149.44.
Most of these payments have been made through savings in fuel, kids activities being cancelled and no breaks away. Nearing summer holidays spending will increase so this will likely be last big payment.
thanks for updating.4
