  • No mention of the speed of it though....
I already went to Virgin for broadband anyway.
    Thanks for all the comments.

  • We gave up sky 3 years ago and have never looked back - we have Now tv which there always seems to be a deal on (currently £1.60/month for entertainment for 3 months) and Netflix - more than enough to watch - we don’t bother with recording.
Sky came back to us after we left them after a few months with an offer to come back for £8 for the basic package but were not tempted - we were fed up with their silly games of going through cancellations/retention department to renegotiate the package every 12/18 months.
  • Offer in Costco at the moment is

    NowTv smart stick
    Includes 2 months Sky cinema
    1 month entertainment pass
    And 1 day sports pass

    £14.38

I'm with you. I've got 9 months left on my Sky 18-month contract and have been using the time to clear down my recordings (was 50% full). My planner is now completely empty and the ownly thing I watch on the Sky box (and I really mean ownly) is "Watchmen".

I've also been using the time to explore all streaming options. I now stream absolutely everything and it is fantastic, so good in fact that I've turned off my Sky Q Mini in the bedroom and packed it away.

I just can't imaging signing up for another 18-month TV contract ever again.

I just don't understand those people on the "Haggling" threads who feel they must re-sign another unbreakable 18-month contract. They seem to be totally blinkered to the rapid change of direct-2-customer that is happening in the industry. I wonder how many will be equally happy when Sky raise their prices next April, even though they would have lost all the Disney content and channels to Disney+. Roll on another 9 months and I'm finally free.

Maybe, just maybe everyone has their own preferred method of watching TV.

You ended up in an18 month contract!
I too tried sky for 18 months and couldn’t wait to get out of the contract as it is too expensive even on a deal. It’s the £13 multi screen fee that got my goat. I figured because I had 100 meg broadband I may as well just stream Nowtv. It does the same thing really as you can pick up where you left off on any device to continue watching.
We have 4 screen Netflix, nowtv entertainment and movies for less than £20 a month on deals.
If our broadband was rubbish than we probably would have sky for recording and downloading to the box so I can see why people still have it.

12 months as it happens with no need for multi-room. Like I said, everybody has different needs & wants. You're judging peoples actions by your own requirements.

I agree with you Colin and I'm as guilty as anyone. Although you do a fantastic job to help others with their "haggling" journey, I do think they are only getting half the picture. I'm considering setting up a "Cut the Cord (leave Sky/Virgin/BT for good)" thread to help people move on and I would hope you could support that too.

Of course, I'm not against people leaving Sky (I hate the annual renegotiation part myself) and have tried to help folk who are changing.
