Hi @little_green, thanks for popping in again! I've run on and off since I was 16, it can be very hard especially if you don't want to do it (or don't enjoy it). I listen to podcasts now, as I found music messed up my pace, if you can find a podcast you're interested in it can really help pass the time. Nutrition is also important, when I still lived at my mum's I struggled but being able to "eat to run" makes it easier. Running isn't for everyone though, is there another form of exercise you enjoy?

Received an email from ex yesterday, they're not coming today which meant I didn't have to do the panic cleaning last night. Just have to do it today instead  Went to Aldi and it came to £24.50 which isn't bad. Stomach was bad last night so didn't have my lentil curry as didn't want to risk upsetting it more, so had marmite pasta and peas instead and stuck the curry in the freezer for another time.
So as it's Valentine's day my mum asked if I wanted to go round there for dinner with her and my brother, but she mentioned last night she was feeling ill. If I don't go round there I will do a 3 mile run, and then clear off the kitchen sides and hoover/mop for ex and his mum to go round tomorrow (no idea what she's doing in the kitchen as she isn't painting, but she wanted me to clear off the sides). If it's still on I'll forgo the run and just clean then go round there.

The jeans sold, but I need to defluff them first before I can send them on (the joys of having two cats ), will try and sort that out tonight to post tomorrow. Made £6-ish off that sale so not too bad.

Plan for tomorrow is yoga in the morning, then drive to my dad's, he'll likely need to go food shopping. He was looking for a coffee table for his new flat, I found one for £6 in a charity furniture shop near me. It's a bit weird (they called it a celebration table) but it's a good size and light so he can easily move it. That's been in my car since last weekend so will give that to him tomorrow as well.

I hope everyone has a good Valentine's Day, single or no  I've got two furry valentines, but can you believe they didn't get me a card or anything! :open_mouth: So rude

  • Oh should add here while I think about it...in my building we have a group chat, and the flat below us (identical layout) has been sold SSTC, they've contacted the management company for their pack to sell it and they're charging £525! She said she's sold before and it's never been over £300, and her EA reckons it's the highest he's ever seen. It makes me so angry that the owner of the building can hire these guys without even contacting us as leaseholders, it sounds like they're the most expensive around (and rubbish too, the building is in complete darkness atm as none of the lights in the hallways work).
But this means that when we sell this is a cost we're going to have to swallow....

  • Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope the cats were just planning a surprise for you for later 😻

Really frustrating about the management company. It always seems to be the stupidly expensive ones that never fix anything.

Hi @astrocytic_kitten well the boys didn't, but my mum got a candle and some chocolate, so I guess that's ok  Yeah honestly the company is so bad, I've never had to deal with any before and it seems like the two I've had in this place have been some of the worst.

Last night I came home via sainsburys, got myself some red wine, a beer for my brother and some celery. Did my cleaning/sorting and then my mum and bro came round with chinese.
Was up early-ish to get out the flat for ex and his mum, and to go to yoga. Went to the PO on the way to post the defluffed jeans. Yoga class was great, heart-opening class when meant a lot of work into my upper back which is a very stiff point for me.
Went to see my dad and gave him the table which he's chuffed with, then to pick up some prescriptions and to costa again. I need to phone the gym near him as he can't remember what kind of membership he had before (something about it being cheaper as he's on benefits), guess I'll try and do that tomorrow or Monday. Then drove back to mine, got some petrol for £18 out of my petrol fund, and sat in my car waiting for the text from ex so I could go back into the flat.
So had a good day until then...
While waiting I got a DM on the work instagram which I control. I haven't been on there in ages. I looked at the DM, and then clicked on to the main feed. What's the first picture that comes up? Ex with a new girl. The body language is a bit weird as their arms are almost around each other but not quite. I don't mind telling you it was like a punch in the gut. Guess it was always going to feel that way seeing him with someone new, even though I genuinely wouldn't ever want him back. It's just shocking because he left the relationship with so many issues, anxiety/depression etc, and it doesn't look like he's done any work on himself since, he's just going to throw himself into another relationship. This isn't going to derail me, I just need to process it. I know I am on the right path for me, I am being true to myself, I've been on a date and on apps but I'm not actively looking, and tbh the thought of being in a proper committed relationship right now makes me feel ill. He is very co-dependant though, and can't do anything by himself, so it shouldn't surprise me he's found someone else to run his life for him. I'm an independant woman and don't need no man
Oh also, his mum has put these god-awful cherub ornaments on the windowsill in the living room. They will last around a day if they're lucky, that's the cats' domain. I'm not moving them, if they break oh well :D
I'm going to try and get my long run in tomorrow, maybe in the late afternoon so Dennis has time to make his way out. Plan for tonight is the rest of my red wine, lentil bolognese, then popcorn and a horror film. Maybe a bath if I'm feeling fancy.

    Afternoon everyone!
Still reeling from yesterday's news, but life goes on.
Made an ebay sale this morning so that's £5.92 profit after p&p etc. Will package that up later and get it sent tomorrow.
Spent almost an hour in the kitchen today, I've got lentil soup on the go, I chopped up a lot of veg and put it in the freezer for another meal at a later time, and chopped up veg for a butterbean stew from Cooking on a Bootstrap that I'll cook later. Waiting for this rain to go away so I can do my run, looks like it won't ease up until 5pm but that's a bit late really. Might have to accept I'll get a bit (a lot) wet!
Had some lovely soppy time with cat1 earlier, he never comes on my lap but he snuggled up to me on the sofa for 5 minutes, was lovely
Not got a whole load to do today which is refreshing, going to do my nails in a bit, read/chill in front of the tv, then run, then dinner, bath, and bed!
I finished To Die For: Is Fashion Wearing Out The World? last night, and although it's a little outdated (was published in 2011) it is still so relevant, and really opened up my eyes to the fashion industry and the production. Especially the descriptions of how they get snake skin and even silk  With my restriced budget I don't think I'll be able to go down the ethical route right now, but I think buying only second hand this year will still make a difference, even if it's only minuscule. Now reading her book on plastic which I'm sure will be enlightening.
    Have a great Sunday everyone!

Hi @astrocytic_kitten thank you so much, it definitely helps knowing I've got your support!

Well I did my 8.5 mile run last night, ended up leaving around 5pm. Got an amazing time, averaged 10:42 per mile which is a brilliant time for me. BUT, with about a mile and a half to go, I tripped and went flying, and landed on my right knee. I finished the run, but my knee is really sore and the bruise is incredible. I didn't have any ibuprofen in the house, so I've been putting arnica on it, and will get some ibuprofen on my lunch. Feel like I've been beaten up today, especially as I was already so sore from yoga.
I posted the ebay package on the way into work. Almost enough in my monzo pot for 2% off the CC, so once that's rounded up to £28 I'll send that to the CC.

  • Went to Home Bargains on my lunch, got two packs of ibuprofen, and some work snacks, came to just under £5. I have £70 to last me for the rest of the month, but I'm debating using some of that to pay for the half marathon in June. I have 6 meals in the freezer, I have quite a few things in my cupboards, and I have no outings planned for the rest of this month, so I'm thinking £45 for the next two weeks for food should be plenty. I want to get the half marathon booked as I'm not sure when the cut-off is.

Right, sod it, going to book it! £25 gone

delurking to say, im with you on the punch in the gut!
talking to a girl for around 5m seen her few times but always out of house, in her car, drives around etc. nothing intimate.
i decide to do a nice thing, go round hers, on valentines day last week no less! and door is opened by another guy! (who had zero idea, and even though i shouted to tell him who i was (i felt sorry that he another dude was also decieved, i dont think he heard me, as she ran out and pushed me down the path lol) so yea, i read your photo popping up story and i feel that exact same feeling!

ive had it before, splits etc, i truly do believe it's a grieving like a death, one day they are there, seeing them, texting or loads of comms, and then one day they have "died". it gets easier!
